it appears that the entire magnifier lifts up and pivots 180 degrees

it seems very awkward

It just swings out of the way. Very quick and not awkward at all. I will post more pictures showing the movement tomorrow,

When you rotate it out of the way does it lock in that position or at least have some friction holding it in place?

I like this design over the flip mounts.

There is a decent at the closed and open position. You don't have to lift up just twist and it breaks free. Holds firm. You can even just hit the magnifier and it swings out of the way and locks.

so it puts your magnifier into the path of the ejecting brass??

It sits pretty high but you can make it swing the other way. I will post pics.

Marshall

Edit to add: We just received them yesterday. With all the holiday orders to get out I have not made a range trip. There is the remote possibility I mounted it backward.

New pics posted.

I'm happy to see someone thinking out of the box on this one.. Good work ADM!

Looks like a good Solution. I have a LaRue model and while it is solid, the positioning gets oil and carbon all over the lense...so this can't be any worse than that problem. As long as it sits high, it should be out of the ejection path.

I wish a company came out with a good flip to side mount for magnifiers that allows for the tube holding mechanism to be screwed together so you can put in magnifiers that have large front and backends. For instance, with my new 4x DM Premium mount, I had to pick up a chinese airsoft mount that is a Larue rip off just to get my magnifier mounted

This looks like a great mount but only works for that segment of magnifiers that has the small front tube.

You must be seeing some different pics than I am since the ones I'm seeing clearly show the magnifyier pivoting to the opposite side of the rifle from the ejection port door. Odd I don't see the post edit tag either, hmmm.

the original pics showing the magnifier swung around to the right side of the receiver have been edited out of the first post....after I brought up the question of the mounted position of the magnifier

Hi Marshall,
with the setup in this picture(PA 3x Deluxe and ADM mount):

Are you able to run an MBUS with this setup and have the mount function properly?
Thanx

The bottom of the rubber cover on our 3X deluxe will rub on a MBUS. You can sand down the cover and we will still honer the warranty.

I have a quick question. My S&W M&P-15T is set up with a GG&G mount on an Aimpoint T-1, which allows for absolute co-witness with BUIS, which I personally like. My question is whether you make a mount that will allow the magnifier to be low enough to work with this set-up. Yoy pictures show the mount with a much higher height than my set-up. Thanks.

There is a absolute cowitness version.

Could you post a pic with it front-mounted? I'd like to see that option in action.

And, for a regular, 'old' EOTech (N) sight, would I get the lower 1/3rd mount? The one in the pic looks considerably taller than what I'd need.

ETA: How quick are these being shipped, btw?

Thanks!

Not sure I understand front mounted. You can not pu magnifier in front of EOtech. Old N EOTech is absolute cowitness. We have that. Since that is lower so you will need a low profile flip.

Order from us tonight and it will ship by noon tomorrow.

Just ordered mine. American Defense is top shelf IMO. Glad to see you get this mount. It's just what I've been looking for. Another point, being a lefty, I'll be able to keep both eyes open on my red dot when not magnified. Thanks Marsh !

My only concern is aftermarket magnifiers hitting the rear sight in the absolute cowitness version. The diamiter if a Aimpoint 3X is smaller than ours and the Vortex 3X. I will mount one up and check.

EDIT TO ADD: It looks like we have sold out of the absolute CW version. More are due next week and I will update.

I could've sworn the web-page description said it could be "front-mounted". I assumed that meant the red-dot reticle wouldn't be magnified that way. I guess there's eye-relief with the magnification, though - huh? Hmmm . . .

Thanks for the reply. If I can pull it off (with Christmas 'and all'), I'll let you guys know.

Marshall,

I spoke with ADM yesterday regarding both heights of this mount and have some information for you that would be great to put on your website for people looking for the best match to whatever RDS they have.

AD-SM-01 from rail to center of mag is 1.655 inches or lower 1/3
AD-SM-02 from rail to center of mag is 1.470 inches or co-witness

Seems like it would block a lot of your left side peripheral vision?

If you want a flip to side magnifier, this is the reality that you have to deal with. Same with the Larue.

Maybe its just cause its so big ( I know, thats what she said), the magnifier that is. I've never used a setup like that, maybe flipped to the right would be better so the left eye could be unobscured.

Marshall, I just received my American Defense absolute witness mount. I'm using a Hensoldt 2x magnifier along with 30mm to 1 inch spacers. There are absolutely no problems with the mount and this type magnifier. The only other magnifier I have is a Mako and it won't work with the mount. I'm sorry I can't provide pictures right now, but I have it mounted to swing to the left. ( I shoot left handed ), The magnifier clears my MBUS sights without any problems and it lines up perfectly with my Bushnell Holosight. I can't see why it wouldn't work swinging to the right. To the left is perfect for a lefty. Both eyes open without magnification, and all. Poor boy, not. Poor man, probably so. Thanks a million. Mount is built like a tank and took about five minutes to mount and get the spacers in. I'm anxious to see how the vortex or your magnifier works with my set up.
