Mounting things on the AA gas block
I heard magpul sights melt, but I've also heard that they're perfectly fine. I mean even plastic hand guards will melt eventually.
Does anyone know how fast and how many rounds before you're in danger of melted MBUSs?
What about mounting a tlr1 or x300 flash light on the gas block? How long before the heat kills those?
The plastic sight will shift it's POI from heat from the gas block. Aluminum sights will not.
It may not "melt" and you may not notice it, but do you really want to invest in a sight you can't trust?
I've put a magpul sight on my gas block and it was fine. I had them on at our property in the mountains on a weekend getaway and was shooting all weekend. We were packing up to head home and when we were talking about the AA system I began to show them my set up and during the proccess , that question came up. I tried to pull the sight off and couldn't. When I got home I had to pull the gas block off and hit it with a hammer to get sight off. I looked and seen the rail marks on the bottom of the sight. I can't tell you how many rounds I shot but it had to be over a thousand and over the course of 6 months. I never new I always used my scope so if no one asked I would have never known. I swear a couple of times I smelled something funny. I just did away with sights. I never use them anyway. I just use my scope now, if I ever need to shoot zombies I'll put them back on.
Hm, ok. What about flashlights?
