Huldra Adams Arms Piston Uppers
What do people know about these?
I've been seeing them at the local Fleet Farm and am wondering if these are GTG or gimmicky.
Thanks.
Its pretty cool that fleet farm has created their own brand.
they are manufactured by adams arms. Look good to go to me if you want a piston AR, accessories they put on them are good quality, samson and magpul mainly i think.

Yup, these are rebadged Adams Arms systems. I personally own an Adams Arms upper, I'd say the Huldra is the real deal. Fleet Farm has really surprised me with their AR offerings. I found magpul forends on the shelf, better stuff than freaking Gander Mountain!
I have been wondering about these as well complete piston upper for a good price just wondering if it is worth it or not...
You guys are correct, we are a "real deal" and aren't going anywhere. Also correct is that Adams Arms in our manufacturing partner. Currently a lot of our products overlap but we also have some stuff coming out that will be exclusive to us. In particular we are partial to the pica tinny gas block, where on some AA uppers they have used the lightweight gas block.
If you have any questions please ask or check out our industry section as well.
Thanks,
Dave
Might I vote that you put the Magpul MOE handguards on your uppers? I did that with mine and now I have an extra set of handguards ;)
We actually really like the Magpul stuff, from there mags, to their furniture, they make good products. We went with the M4 hand guards to keep prices down but we've talked about doing more Magpul stuff for the future, so you never know. Our new Tac Evo features a Magpul CTR stock. I really like the MOE line though, inexpensive, light weight, and offers easy accessory mounting. I know several folks who bought the mid length upper are running MOEs so we know its popular. Its feedback like this that we appreciate to know what are customers want.
Thanks and have a Happy Easter!

Here's a tech question. I've always used mid-length DI uppers but the only 5.454 upper is carbine length. Are there any issues/downsides with using a carbine piston vs. a mid-length?

We have found that with the 5.45 round the optimal gas system is the carbine length gas system. The mid-legnth is a great gas system, and we use it in several of our 556 line rifles, but it is not optimal for the 545. The 545 needs the pressure associated with the carbine length gas system to function at its best. If you were to make a 545 in mid length I would anticipate a lot of gas port modification to make it run. Its been tested by Adams Arms and they recommended the carbine length and thats what we chose to do.
Thanks for asking, anything else please let me know!

Big Dave.....Love you YT vids BTW. Why are you partial to the old style gas piston block? Are you opposed to the new "Lite" design, and if so, why?
Thanks brother.
Hi there,
I got your email and responses so I think you're questions are answered. As for everyone else tuning in, I like to use the block if it's there, it's a solid point to mount front sights.
Thanks, Dave
