LWRC PSD pistol doesn't load a new round
I have a LWRC PSD, with the 8.5 inch barrel, in 6.8mm, on a pistol lower.
In a full box of ammo, it's never once successfully cycled.
The first trip to the range suffered from many half ejected shells. I thought the problem might be the regular weight carbine buffer in the lower, so I switched it out to a H2.
Now it ejects, but doens't pick up a new round from the mag and load it in.
I tried two mags, same result. Both were well seated.
Is the bolt not comming back far enought to pick up another round?
That, plus piss poor and unrepeatable accuracy, as well as the fact that it wallops you (not it's fault, I'm shooting a 270 from a 5 lb gun) is resulting in a trrend line towards GunBroker.com and the sales feature. How much do you think I could get for it? Actuall sold price, not the 1800 buck fantasy number I've seen for PSD uppers?
Thanks,
Have you tried contacting LWRC to see if they could diagnose the problem? I have a PSD in 5.56 and it's been 100% reliabel from day one along with my 10.5" M6A2..
I have a friend that bought the ful factory 6.8 PSD and the accuracy was horrible with any ammo he shot. Turned out that the barrel was loose and LWRC has it back to him within a week and it's been good to go ever since. This was back in 2009..
Yeah if it sucks I would send it back to them with the lower you plan on using. The reason why I say send the lower with it is so they get the full picture of what is going on with it. Their customer service is excellent and they will keep you updated every part of the way. If not 1300 is a fair price seeing that I bought my complete cerakoted PSD for $1800 and LWRCI gets about 500 for their lowers. But get it back to them first and have them go over it before you give up on it. I would also probably call dibs on your 6.8 upper once I get my stamp back for my 5.56 PSD.
Did you try scaling back one to a standard H buffer? You said you went from a standard carbine buffer to an H2 Buffer....that was a double jump...i would try the H buffer and see what happens
Send it back to LWRC. Top notch customer service. They will make it right. You shouldn't have to deal with the weapon being a PITA, nor should whoever buys it from you if you decide to sell it down the road.
Those uppers where designed to use a standard h buffer or the pistol buffer kit that they sell
+1 on sending it back. My friend bought a 6.8 PSD Pistol and thought the gas port hole in the barrel was a chip. LWRC responded quickly and so was the turn around. There wasn't an actual problem, but I think they have decent customer service.

Thanks,
Call CS. It is top notch
I'll give them a holler come Monday. I'll try the H1 buffer from my 6.8 mm A2 next range trip too.
Has anyone has an H2 buffer keep a new round from being picked up from the mag? I'd think the wallop from a 6.8 round would put plenty of momemtum into the bolt, so if anything would work with a H2, I'd think it was a 6.8mm.
Or does the piston action lower the speed of the bolt carrier compared to say a carbine length DI system?
Thanks,
