I have a dpms sportical and a spikes st-22 complete upper. I was was wondering if I could just switch the flattop uppers on each gone as to make use of the forward assist? I figure pull barrels and bcg and should be an easy swap. My st-22 has a gas port, so I see no reason why I couldn't make the swap. Anything I should ge worried about?

Ok to be honest, I've already made the swap and everything fit together nicely. Just worried that I've set myself up for a kaboom. I mean the ST-22 should be able to take the power of a .223, right?
Only area where fitment is of concern, is that the M4 feed ramps don't line up very nicely with the DPMS barrel and the ST-22 Upper, but that cant easily be dremeled out.
22LR is the FDE.

I think I understand now. You are asking about the upper receivers themselves. If so, then yes, the ST22 upper receiver should be fine.

Got the chance to take them both out and shoot this weekend. The .223 shot great and the 22 shot like it always does. The spikes bolt works well with my rifle lower, but when I put it on my pistol lower with no stock, it stovepiped like crazy. Adjustments will be made, but I only had a short time to just make some noise Saturday.

The ST-22 Upper is an M4 type upper having the feed ramp extensions machined in before annodize. If your DPMS barrel extension is an M4 type, no worries, you may just
have to dress some using a Dremel with a fine stone to align the extension and upper. BUT if your DPMS barrel extension is an M3 type, and you put it in the Spikes' ST-22
upper with M4 cuts, the centerfire cartridge bullet nose will probably jam before it enters the chamber. You should not install an M3 barrel in an M4 lower. You can install an M4 barrel
in an M3 upper with no worries. DO NOT Dremel an M3 barrel extension to try to match an M4 upper, let a gunsmith take a crack at it if you have questionable skills.
