 9mm BUIS question

I have an RRA complete 9mm rifle, 16 " barrel.

I have a matech BUIS, I tried to sight it in at 100 yards. I had to crank the buis up to the 600 setting to get on paper.

Is the standard buis ok to use on a 9mm?

I guess the 9mm trajectory is off for the standard buis, Anyone else experience this?

I am running the buis along side an eotech, which is right on the money.

Suggestions?

I think your first problem is trying to zero the 9mm at 100 yards, 50 yards is probably more realistic for a pistol cartridge, and 25 yards wouldn't be unreasonable. I use the DD A1.5 rear on my 9mm AR (soon to be an SBR) pistol and it shoots point of aim at 25 yards (the A1.5 doesn't have an elevation adjustment). Some years back I tried shooting some steel plates out at about 250 yards with my 9mm Beretta Storm. I had to hold quite a bit over, like measured in feet, to get hits. You can use 5.56mm intended sights for a 9mm, but expect to make adjustments to get them zeroed, either in changing your zero range or learning the proper hold over.

+1. I have an EOtech on my 7" 9mm, and If I want to ring steel (20" x 20") at 200, I need to hold the bottom of the circle on target (~30MOA high)

best/easiest zero for your 9mm AR is 25 yds.

I was just trying to shoot bowling pins at 100 with the 9mm.

Actually hit them at a high percentage once I got the buis adjusted.

The buis really didn't adjust down far enought to zero at 25. Guess I could play with the front pin.

I was about 3-4 inches high at 25 on the 600 setting.

9mm AR's with iron sights are not meant to be elevation adjustable, as their original purpose is for close shots...
If Colt (when designing the 9mm AR) thought it important to be able to adjust elevation for differing distances, they would have incorporated an adjustable sight system, not the 50m fixed sight that it has always come with.
I imagine that RRA only uses the A2 style uppers for their 9mm's because RRA does not make or sell an A1 style upper.

If I were in your shoes, I would zero the A2 type sight for 25m (adjust the front sight, not the rear elevation), then figure out what setting to use for 100m and mark it.
