Took a stab at it. I'm actually pretty happy with the results.

I used black rit dye that I picked up at wal mart. I got the water hot almost to a boil then placed the Mag and covers in the hot water. I let it sit about 6 minutes. The only regret that I have is that I didn't used a less transparent tape. I used blue painting tape. It allowed some of the dye to get under the tape. I really like the results it gave though.

What do you think?

The black mag looks great, not a fan of the blue color on FDE, but the quality of work looks excellent.

The blue was just my stencil. It was blue painters tape. I peeled it off and the result was the black mag.

I'm curious, did you tape off your window? I did one in black, came out great but the window was black as rest of the mag. Can't see thru it even when held up to a light.

Yeah I taped it off, some people said you didn't but it took me 30 seconds to put a strip of electrical tape over it then go along the edge of the window with a razor blade.

I thought that if the mag is going to dye and change colors then the window is too, so I didn't risk it.
