When were they made? How hard do you have to hit the bottom for rounds to come out?

I just looked at two mags from my order about a month ago. One was made 3/11, the other 5/11. Has there been a recent revision? They work fine so far, but I haven't tried hitting them until rounds pop out.

I got mine last week...I just put my rifle together and notice that the AWM mags don't touch the mag well on my lower...I thought that my L5s used to touch.

Someone on their industry page said they were having issues with the first round trying to bind up when chambering it. Lancer said the first AWMs had a notch on the under side of the feedlips that could cause and issue and had fixed it.

When were they made? Turn it upside down and smack the bottom a couple times and tell us when happens.

I ordered 4 (buy 3 get one free). They screwed up and shipped three all dated 3-11. The fourth one got here today ( they were fast to fix their mistake) and it had the same date. With 30 rounds loaded and whacking the bottom with my fist all rounds stay put. Dropping them from waist height onto their base all rounds stay put.

Ordered 3 + free one on 2/28. All 4 are stamped. 6/11

Ordered some on 8/16/11 and those were stamped 7/11 I have some more from a earlier order and those are stamped 5/11

All my AWMs stamped 7/11 and 5/11 have fed flawlessly. Haven't tried the ones from my latest order yet. With my AWMs, a good strong whack to the bottom of a fully loaded mag will cause a round to fly out. The same amount of force on a fully loaded pmag won't cause a round to fly out. Hitting the pmag harder, I can make a round angle out of the mag but it never falls out. USGI mags behave the same as the pmag. Hitting a USGI hard enough I can get a round to angle out but not fly out.

I don't see this as a problem. AWMs bounce around in my range bag and have never had a round fall out. Never had a round fly out when smacking the mag into the mag well either.

I can see why it happens. If you look at the curvature of the feed lips on a AWM, only the very edge of the feed lip is in contact with the round. With a USGI or pmag the feed lips are at a tighter curvature where more of the feed lip surface is in contact with the round. The AWM feed lips are also teflon coated so they are slicker than pmag or USGI feed lips.

I'm going to keep buying AWMs. They work great.

A round will pop out.

I can make a round pop out of ever magazine on the market doig that.

Might i ask why you do this test? As long as there is space for the mag to close on a closed bolt smacking the mag upside down will cause the spring compress, this will make the top round loose and when the spring goes to return it will pop out the top round.

Stupid test is stupid

Just saw people putting that online. Gonna check all my different brand mags to see what happens.

Sorry to go a little off topic. I'm thinking about buying some Lancers from Botach. Do they ship fast ? I've heard horror stories from a few folks so i'm wondering what your experience was like. Thanks for any help.

Just opened mine that I bought direct from Lancer. I got a couple of the translucent 'brown' to take a look at. I like the AWMs. The shiny rounds do not 'glare' out like the old L5 'smoke' tint mags, and the mag has a surface finish which gives it a non-reflective 'matte' look. In fact, they remind me a lot of those translucent Steyr mags, which is exactly what I was looking for. Of course they now have opaque AWMs in several drab colors and more colors in the translucent too. I expect they'll work as well as the L5s or better. Just when you're sure you have all the mags you'll ever need.....

Mine are marked 3/11. No "problems" with rounds coming free.

The opaque LWMs are very stiff compared to the older L5s. They remind me of Magpul and Tango Down polymers.
