Ranger base plates on GI 20 rnd mags ?
Can a 20 round metal GI mag be modified to accept Magpul Ranger base plates?
I know the 20 round metal base plates attach in a little different way, but can that little tab in the bottom of the mag be removed to let a 30 round base plate be used??

It worked fine for me. I've used Ranger plates and L plates on aluminum and stainless 30 and 20 rd. mags. They even fit on some PRI mags I have but they were almost to tight if you need to remove them. They will reduce the capacity of the aluminum GI mags by at least one round. I don't remember if that was the case with the SS mags. I didn't have to modify any of them that I recall.
