Steel cased ammo stored in mags?
Just picked up some silver bear (1st time with anything steel cased).
Was wondering if storage in the usgi mags for 2-3 months would hurt anything? They will be stored in dry ammo cans.
Got some to shoot over memorial day and the 4th and wanted to know.
Thanks for your time!
Had a few of my magazines loaded with both Silver Bear and Brown Bear for almost two years, no issues.
Mags will be fine, doesn't matter if it's brass or steel casings, the dimensions are the same.

I know they are the same steel/brss. just not sure how well steel lasts in metal mags.

Kept cool and dry, both will last the same. kept warm and moist, both will corrode to shit.
Not a problem. I have a whole bunch of mags loaded with silverbear for months on end. Most are not in cans just on my ammo shelf or gun case.

+1
I've had Wolf stored for years on end in AK mags fired without a hiccup. I had some Silver Bear that sat about 18 months in USGI style mags that fired without issue.
My Silver Bear picks up an oxidation and roughness from sitting out unprotected, so I keep the loaded mags in VCI bags. The roughness hasn't prevented a failure to feed, but it causes me to loose confidence in the ammo for long term and open storage.
