 CP1 Prismatic Scope

Hey all, this is my first thread here. Been lurking and trying to learn lots of information. Plan on getting my first AR assembled at the end of October (buying the A4 upper then the lower both from RRA). I have just been torn on which scope/sight to go for. I'm looking to do 1-300 yard shots with it, mainly plinking and at coyotes. I'm also trying to keep it under $300.00.

I first come across the Vortex Strikefire and read some really good reviews on it. I would also get the VMX3 Magnifier with swing-mount to go with it. Then doing more searching, I came across the "Sig Sauer CP1 Prismatic Scope." I've searched and searched for reviews and can't find anything about it. Have any of you had any personal run-ins with it? If so, how did it perform(stay zeroed, reliable)? How well were the cross-hairs? Brightness level of the green/red illuminted cross-hair? Any information is helpful, on either the Strikefire (what I will most likely get if nobody has any news on the CP1) or the CP1.

Personally, I have no experience with dot-styled sights. All I've done is the traditional cross-hair and I think for the longer distance shooting that I"m wanting to do, the cross-hair would be better unless someone else has an opinion.

StrikeFire ($150.00 at Cabela's)
CP1 Prismatic Scope

I'm also going to throw in the option of getting the Center Point Power Class scopes as well..thoughts on those are welcome as well.

Thank you.

Patrick

For your stated needs and budget, consider the Burris 1-4x Tac30 ($300): http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=18&t=515291

I will keep that in mind. Thank you, Tomac.

Anyone else have any information on the CP1?

Based on the picture, and the price, I'd say its a chicom knockoff of the Burris, and very similar in appearance to the scope Primary Arms offered for a while.

So would I be just as good to get the Burris or the PA sight, over the StrikeFire? I'm wanting to keep it looking tactical, but I think I would prefer the cross-hair styled scope.

EDIT: After looking at the Burris scope, I really like it. Cabelas has it for $320.00.

Thanks again.

I think it all depends on what you plan to use the scope for. I have the Strikefire and it has worked great holds zero great for hog hunting. I think it's one of the best RD's for the price and Vortex stands behind thier products. Now for a 4x or 1x4 I have the Primary Arms old 4x scope and it has held up to a lot of ware and tare holds zero. Primary Arms doesn't have this scope at this time but, their due to recieve and up dated one sometime in late June or July from last report. As for as Primary Arms goes you won't find faster shipping or better service around just my 2 cents. Both are well with in your price range.

Thank you for your input TUFBOY. I think I will try to go to local gun store and see if they have some of the sights I'm considering and looking through them to see what I really think of them and which one I like best.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply SP1 and 21B. I'm beginning to like the Burris, and I think when I'm at Cabelas again I'll probably see if they have one and look through it.

I'm still open to thoughts on any of the scopes I have mentioned.

Thanks!

I would have to agree, I did some reserch and the burris ar-332 is the closest thing you will get to an acog for 1/4 the price.

I am not comparing a burris to an acog if you read my post correctly you would know that. I said it is the closest thing for 1/4 the price. Ofcourse something you pay $1,400 for vs $300 is no comparison.

Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it. I'll post pictures (in the future) when I get it all set up. Be a while yet, sadly.
