Howdy all. I've done some research on a couple of ar forums and I'm still a little confused.
I have a LMT 10.5" upper and need to get it zero'd out to 100 yards. Not really worried about longer distances at this time.
Do I really need the IBZ? Seems quite a hasssle to mess with the allen wrench and possibly replace the front sight post. If I can get it on paper I'll adjust the sight from there. What would be the go-to setting for my front sight and LMT BUIS?
TIA, Ray
It seems people make this really complicated. If its a new build, get on paper at 25 or 50 and then move out to 100 to fine tune it. There is nothing more frustrating than taking a new build and trying to see dirt fly at 100 trying to get on paper, when 25 or 50 will get you there faster.
If you are using an A2 type rear sight, use the RIBZ. If you read the thread and follow the directions, you can zero at 25, then adjust at 100. Confirm at 100 if possible. I shoot at 25, then confirm at 50 and confirm at 100 if I can.
That is part of the advantage to the RIBZ and an A2 sight. Being able to adjust for distance, and having the adjustments on the rear sight mean something.

Did you have to replace your front sight post with a taller one when going with the RIBZ?

Bueller?
No.
Unless you are using an upper that has a FSB that is not F marked. And even then you may have to. But you may not have to. Posts are cheap. Get one, throw it in the box, then you have it if you need it.
