What Vertical Forend Grip
Looking at LaRue FUG and Tango Down Quick detach what would you go with?
I hear alot of good stuff about Grip Pod but want to go shorter.
hate the grip pod
either of the two you list would work well... I have the old school TD and it's held up through going on 8 years in the Corps and also on my personal M4
I voted TD because it's what I have.
Have used the FUG and it's GTG aswell.
Either will do the job, flip a coin and be happy.
I have a FUG and a Magpul RVG.
I like them both.
I like the FUG. It could be better, but it has the best texture and flexibility, IMO.
Love my FUG
I have the FUG, TD standard (not QD) long model, and KAC.
The outer diameter of these are different, the KAC have the smallest, the FUG is medium, and the TD the largest.
My current favorite VFG is my FUG because of it's QD feature and it installs quickly on my several carbines without removing other rail accessories and panels, it is also three VFG in one, could be converted to short, medium and long length, you don't have to buy a different length grip, and the outer diameter fits my large size hands better, with or without gloves.
None. Handstops. I also find Magpul's AFG decent.
Loves the FUG also!
Bought 2 of them.

Magpul RVG. Medium/small size, comfortable, choice of colors, inexpensive.

+1
anything more is a waste of money in my mind.
don't bother with the grippod. too big and heavy for a VFG, and it sucks as a bipod, Would rather just use the magazine as a monopod.
Isn't the Tango Down metal? I wouldn't want to be holding onto a cold VFG.
I have a FUG and highly recommend it.

FUG
I'll respectively disagree here. I've had both. The Tango Down Quick Detatch is by itself here. It's solid, looks much better, has the storage and the tape switch holder. All around it's a fine unit. Just ordered another one today.

IMHO The LaRue looks better.
But as for the features you said, the LaRue doesn't have the tapeswitch cutout, but its comes with very nice straps to put it on the grip in whatever position you want. Plus you can configure the LaRue in 3 difference lengths. The LaRue also has a water tight storage compartment so I'm not sure why you listed that,
Went with "other". The Magpul RVG works and is cheaper.

Didn't mean to imply that it didnt. Was just stating tangos features.
Magpul RVG
Lightweight and cheap(price wise, not quality).
Voted for the fug because I like the equipment and am a huge LaRue fan, but I have a Bobro on mine and I really like it too. Very solid and rugged and the attaching mechanism is kinda unique as well.
Which FDE matches Magpuls the best... Besides of course Magpuls
I have one for muzzle strikes, to keep my hands from getting burnt during sustained fire and as an index point on the hand guard. The KAC VFG does the job just fine and it's only $15-20 all day long on the used market.
I own a Magpul RVG and I really like it, but the next VFG I'm going with a LaRue FUG.

This... but not just for those two reasons. As much as I
love the FUG
(I do own two of them by the way), to me, the RVG is the most comfortable to use. I'm a "thumbs-up" user, and it fits my hold like a glove.
... Just wish Magpul would offer it with a "cap" for storage.
CQD is what I use
look at the gear sector, mines on the way. I hate how much space the others have from mounting mechanism to the actual grip

We dont need no stinking front grips.
Love the FUG.
I'm also a big fan of Magpul's RVG. It really depends on how you use the grip though. For me, a vfg is just an indexing point for my support hand; I don't use a full handed "beer can" type grip. QD and storage are nice enough features if you want them, but in practice I find no reason to detach the vfg after it has been set and adding additional weight towards the front end of the rifle is less desirable than using the pistol grip core or stock storage compartments. YMMV.
I've got a standard TD. I like it, but got it used for $30. I understand and believe in "you get what you pay for", but $90 for a VFG? I just ordered a Magpul RVG for my SBR as I wanted something shorter. I'd really like storage, but I am having a hard time justifying the money for a TD with the RVG being solid and so much less money.
