Light suggestions for my "Good" rifle

I've got a Colt, with KAC Free Float rail, EoTech, eventually wanna put a laser on it, but I'm trying to find a good light. I had a 951Surefire on deployment but the batteries on those die fast and I hear good things about hte LEDs.
I've found a few on ebay for a decent price, (some come from Sneeds Ferry, NC which is right out the back gate of Lejeune so I figure those are stolen) and some others wiht good prices. $200 or less seems more than fair.

I've glanced at some surefire stuff and it looks insanely overpriced to buy from a regular store, but I guess if it's a buy once kinda thing I may suck it up.....

So my old trusty, battery sucking 951, or should I look at something else?

Check malkoffdevices.com for an LED drop-in - I think they make them for that light.

I see Scout lights in the EE for $200 and under new and used all the time. Have money in hand and be fast if you see something you want.

It's also fairly easy to piece together a good SF light if you watch the various gun board EEs, and the CPF marketplace.

I built an m600v for $275. M620vs usually go for $400.
Body and tailcap was $100. Head was $175.

Currently I'm building a weaponized E2D defender for $135.
Body for $35, kx2c head and z68 tailcap for $100.
I bought a GS mount for $50, but I've seen the vltor mounts for as low as $20.

If you want a pistol light, LAPG had x300s for <$200 last5 time I checked. TLR-1s seem pretty popular for $100, but I'm not a huge fan of the switching system.

I've always been a bit leery of the aftermarket conversions, no issues?

Malkoff is generally regarded as high quality equipment. The 951 w/ a Malkoff will be a great piece of gear, even if a bit heavy.

You could also use a SF G2 w/ a Malkoff drop-in mounted in something like a VTac mount. That would probably run you less than $150, probably about $100 if you shopped used.

Didn't see any on the sight that said they had one for a 951, so I sent em a message and we shall see. Been browsing E.E. a bit too.

Well I found an old thread on here where a guy wanted to convert a 951 to LED, one of the repllies was to contact bright flashlights and buy the setup. SO I emailed them too, if I can do LED for that light that's how I'll go for sure.

I recently emailed Kevin at BrightFashlights.com but after a couple of days of no response I decided to call and he apologized numerous times about not being able to reply in a timely manner due to the shear volume of mail he is getting. He then spent the time answering every question I had so I suggest calling over there (352) 732-2156 and there open on Saturday's.
Here is a link for that drop in:

Kevin just replied to my email and that's how I'm going. Just like when I was a kid with a 951 on my rifle. Crept now it will be LED and hopefully the batteries won't die so fast. Since its late I'll just send him my phone number and let him get me whenever he has a chance.

Thanks all for the advice, ever really considered a conversion

Conversion is on the way, Kevin at bright flashlights is great to deal with if any of y'all need anything of the type.

Now just waiting on a reply from either a couple guys on EE here or one on ebay for the light itself

Thanks again y'all and throw a big thumbs up to brightflashlights.
