Spikes Tactial Buffer Kit, Wait for it or grab another? Where?
Getting ready for my first assembly. Only thing left to get is a buffer tube kit. From my trolling around and millions of hours of review reading I think the Spikes kit will work out well for me. Of course no one has it in stock so I must either bite the bullet and wait it out, or go with another brand. Anyone have thoughts? I read some reviews on ATI and UTG. It's not a budget build but not willing to go over $80 or so unless required. It's gas and Mil-Spec. I would appreciate any input. I finally manned up and registered for the forum.
If you dont want to spend more than $80 then I would try to go to midway, brownells, etc and buy your tube, endplate, spring, buffer, buffer retaining spring/detent and stock that way you can persoanlize and still hit under 80 to 100 dollars. Just my .02

thanks for the response. ive managed to get this far only to get stuck on buffer assembly is killing me. everyone has their opinions when I read through reviews, I just hate buying twice. I already have the CTR stock, just need the rest. ill check out piecing it together or just brake and buy whatever is available. hoping someone here has the spikes kit and can tell me if its worth the wait or not over the ATI, Tapco, etc..
Well if you already have a stock then I would try to piece it together...cheaper and easy to do hell you may even be able to piece the exact spikes kit you want together...check brownells, as I know they carry some spike stuff if spikes is out of the individual pieces....oddly enough I have come across a couple of incidences where companies have been out of their kits but still had all the individual parts available which was weird but whatever works
Palmetto State Armory has mil-spec buffer tube kits for $39.95. This setup will serve you well and is a bargain at this price.

Thanks for the info. Found a Spikes at
Delta3Tactical and ordered. If that does not go through I'll be getting from PSA. Thanks again.

Glad you found one.

But be careful on some of their prices, Spikes stripped lower for $179....OUCH!!!
Yeah, I spent about $70 shipped which was pretty standard everywhere else I looked. A bit more than I wanted but read only good things about that kit, where as the rest were all mixed. I'll find out if they even have it once I get shipping confirmation.

Ordered 2 from Delta 3 Tactical May 23- talked to him about a week after and he has been sold out, and I'm still waiting, hopefully they will be in soon

thats no good. I'm sure they will get them when everyone else does. I will call tomorrow and look elsewhere. Rainier site shows them in stock, will call them too.
AIM surplus sells the buffers, not sure about what else is on the kits...

Delta 3 got back to me. They have all parts except the tube from Spikes. They will replace with VLTOR and ship out. I opted for the VLTOR since from what I can tell is comparable quality.

That's good news, hope mine ship soon too, I have a couple of lowers waiting to be finished!
Just got my kit from brownells, mil spec is in stock.
Just wanted to follow up and give a +1 to
Delta3Tactical. They are shipping my kit out now with a VLTOR buffer and the rest from Spikes. I even added a few parts that I needed to finish things up. They have top notch customer service and outstanding communication. I will be buying from them again. Thanks everyone for all the responses, I can finally begin the build.

Rainier Arms is a great vendor and I buy from them a lot. However, the Spike's kit they have is for a pistol, not a carbine. I'd try ordering it directly from Spike's. They will have them before anyone else.
