I posted this in the .22 forum but no replies...very much related to my AR's also so here goes...
I picked up a new jag while shopping for two new one-piece rods. I ordered the Montana X-Treme .22 jag, good reviews.
It is long....
I am unable to use a patch that is big enough to cover all of the jag edges AND fit into my barrels (10/22, 5.56)...
Am I using this wrong? I put the patch, centered, onto the sharp tip...perhaps I need to wrap the patch around the jag?
Should I push harder?
Thanks for the help...
Pic...the jag is about 2" long...
I believe you can use the jag two different ways, one it is a punch jag you stab the patch on the point and push is down. The second way is to wrap the patch around the jag and push it thru. Most use the jag as a punch to push the patch threw. In the old days you would wrap the jag when using a product like fritz or a fine lapping paste to polish the bore.
