Over the last few months Ive been trying to find an Arsenal SLR-107cr. Everything that I am finding is WAY overpriced. Nothing under $1500 and in most cases they are selling for $1600+
So I wanted to see what it would take to build one my self. I have an unmolested 7.62x39 and I was wondering if these are the parts I would need to make it work and be 922r compliant.
This is what I ultimately want to build but with a 16" barrel. Not doing SBR just yet. Image curtsey of Maddog6 on warriortalk.com
So, I start with a Saiga and replace the following:
Option 1
Front sight gas block:

Rear stock trunnion/stock assembly
http://www.k-var.com/shop/product.php?productid=17651&cat=283&page=2
And that's really about it if you dong include the 922r compliance parts...
Option 2
Buy an SLR107F
replace the front sight gas block:

And that's really about it...
I am leaning towards option 2 since I really dont think I can pull off the rear stock setup without messing it up too much. Basically, I need some one to confirm that I selected the correct front sight gas block for what I am trying to accomplish.
I really appreciate everyone's input on this. Ive been drooling over this rifle for months and I'm really tired of waiting on one.

p.s. if you have a line on a 107CR drop me a line. If I can just buy one I'll do that and save my self the headaches... :-)
what you want is the
AK 142B
they're out of the russian one but the bulgy one also doesn't need the gas port to be moved back so the bulgy is a good choice.
The 107F does not have a side rail mounted to the receiver. You want the 107FR or SGL-21-94. In order to convert the 107F to the 107CR you would need to buy an AK side rail and have it installed, and that requires gunsmithing. I thought I saw a 107CR on GB yesterday for $1200, and I've seen 'em go for less if you're quick enough to jump on whichever forum add is selling it.

not to mention needing the 500m sight leaf for the complete package, 107CR would be much easier and cheaper than getting a 107F or 107FR and modding it.
So from what I'm reading I should just wait to see if I can find the 107CR and go with that instead of trying to build one...
Well, the one on GB is going for $1350. Ill keep looking though... I check a bunch of forums so hopefully I'll run across some. Ill probably post some want to buy as well. See who bites.
Thanks!

lately a good price is $1200 for one, sometimes they are cheaper but those are gone in a heartbeat. the last time they were in stock at k-var they were $1200 so that's where most people start pricewise.
