Yugo FPS?
Im going to start reloading 7.62x39 round and I am just curious how many FPS the surplus yugo rounds are putting out? Also wondering how grains of powder they use (dont really care too much of the what the powder is esp since its surplus)? Not try to replicate this round at all, just curious as to some of the specs of it.
Never chrono'd one but I will pull one down to measure for you.
eta: 25.3 grains of stick powder, the bullet is flat base and open in the rear (actually kind of concave) with a tar sealant
looks like they ran out of volume or got it just right because the powder fills right to the back of the bullet..
Nice thanks man, nice to see you over at these parts haha, thanks for all of that, let me know how it chrono's, while your at it might as well chrono of GT and wolf (if you have them on hand, no need to buy them if you do not.
Yugo military spec is 2405 +/- 26 fps.
Both extruded "stick" type powder and ball powder has been used by Yugoslavia in this caliber. The powder type is noted on the box labels.
The powder charge weight is entirely dependant on what type of powder you plan to use. Consult a good reloading manual for current load data...

Thanks, I know that powder charge is completely different depending on the powder, I was just curious is all. I have several reloading manuals however, thanks for the FPS on the yugo surplus though.
