Consider Midwest Industries before you buy a different side rail scope mount!
Guys!
Before you buy a belarus or cheap knock-off side rail scope mount MAKE SURE you check out the side rail mount offered by Midwest Industries.
This thing is super light weight and built like a tank. I didnt think that having a unit made out of aluminum compared to steel would matter but it does.
The adjustment screw on the unit is much more user friendly and it locks in place and cannot be bumped loose like the belarus mounts.
I will try to post pics of my mount in the next day or so.
I really like the look of the mount and how low it sits over the topcover. I would like to have one myself.
It really could benefit from a longer rail though, as pointed out in
FAC's MI AKSM review. There could be eye-relief issues on some scopes.
Here are some pics:
I will get some more when its light outside.

There's no doubt in my mind the MI mount is an excellent mount, but for a 30mm red dot I would take a long hard look at the RS Regulate 30mm mount as well.
Check that f'in beast out!!!
Bought one last night for my ACOG TA33G-13 until MI or RS Regulate releases an ACOG side mount. I'd prefer one from MI with the ADM lever.
This mount seems to rely just on friction to keep it locked on the rail. Is that how the Russian mounts do it?

Russian mounts have a physical/mechanical stop built into the mount. It may be at the front of the mount, as is the case with most SVD/PSL mounts, or at the rear of the mount, as is the case with most AK mounts. There is a third type, utilized by some universal mounts, where a cam on the tensioning lever itself indexes with a vertical groove in the center of the rail on the receiver.
The tension created by adjusting the lever will hold the mount on the rail, but it is the mechanical stop built into the mount that will prevent the mount from moving forward on the rail under recoil.
Got it 末 I had not thought through the physics well enough. There is a positive stop that will prevent it from sliding forward, but backward is just the tension from the ADM mount.
Can't wait to try it out. This isn't the gun it will live on 末 that gun will have a CTR with cheek riser. But for reference 末

Looks like you went with the ADM mount on your TA33G-13, as did I:
I love mine. Though, I may have to sell it for the Aimpoint model that I'm anxiously waiting on. I found this pic on their site.
Yep. Hey what size flip-up caps does this take?

Butler Creek #1 Objective and #9 Objective.
That is such a sweet set up.
I have all the parts either at the house or on their way there including an Aimpoint M2 to do that exact configuration... except the 30mm mount! It's supposedly done, just waiting on engraving and packaging before its available. MI has really jumped in with both feet on the AK and I couldn't be happier.
Yeah, I'm going to buy a ml3 just so I can use this mount. I believe it co-witnesses also which is a big plus.
