 Combloc Optic Opinions

Yes, I've done a search, but no, I can't seem to find some of the old threads and answers to my Q's/

I'm going from an Ultimak/PA mini set up now due to a shoulder injury that makes reloads well...a bitch. I need to move the weight towards the rear. I had an RS set up with an Aimpoint, but I'd prefer a Combloc optic.

PV A

PV AS

What else?

These have been in the running. Too many Kobra knockoffs...not really interested in a Kobra. PV A is over the bore while the PV AS if offset. Opinions on these two and advantages and disadvantages, please.

Is there another sight I'm not considering but should? It will go on my SLG21 with a side mount.

Respectfully submitted...

There is the tritium-powered Obzor from NPZ as well. Nice optic.

Ooooohhhhh.....that's kinda interesting. Never seen one. I have consider a Rukurs (sp?) as well as it's trintium. Where might one find a gem like yours?

Obzor gets my vote as well but I have close to 2 years experience with Rakurs and really dig it. IMO it's an evolutionary improvement of the PK-AS...similar style but no batteries. Obzor is interesting and I like it quite a bit as well and as I mentioned in another thread should have bought one a long time ago.

PK-A is a good optic and is my favorite of the tube style dot optics (or was, I think I found a couple really new ones that I like more already). I have a personal thing for it but usually recommend Rakurs or Obzor over it, though this is still one of the cheapest and toughest combloc optics you can buy. I prefer the hammer grey version over the black models FWIW

Thanks TX-Zen and Liquid Metal...

I went Rakurs and I think I'll be pleased...but the Obzor is facinating. I think the Rakurs splits the difference between the too low co-witness sites (they are for me) and the Obzor which appears pretty high. I don't know this...it just looks that way.

I have noticed when running the ak that I tend to want to look over the top of the Ulti-PA set up. It's probably because I'm pretty tall/big. I end up with the toe of the rifle where my colar bone meets my shoulder in trying to aquired the dot. This is going to help...or maybe I need more practice (of course I do).

Combloc optics are kinda sexy...mostly because I don't see them much. I can see this being a little mini addiction. Great.

Does the Obzor have an easy to replace tritium source, or would it be something the factory would have to take care of? If it had to be a factory replacement, would it even be possible to do?

I know it's a relatively new optic and you get 12+ years of use before you really need to worry, but it's pretty much the only thing stopping me from buying one right now.

I was wondering about like too...but...after 10 years I would be ready to buy another anyway..

still...it'd be nice to be able to procure another source for any of the tritiums...

Having said that...that's a reason I still like the PV AS. You still have a dot with the batteries or circuits go tango uniform.

This is my view on the tritium replacement issue:

I think Rakurs would be relatively 'field' replaceable, I'm pretty sure this is the cartridge with the white sealant here on the bottom:

Obzor I'm not sure about yet. Could be this round plate with 2 screws:

Or this square plate

Then again there's another square plate on the bottom with 4 screws, and then 4 other screws that secure something to something. It really is like a UFO

I know McNee229 from theakforum.net was able to fabricate a replacement cartridge and obtain the tritium vial for my 1P29 to get it relit which is really cool.

He has considerable skill, it might be possible to have these relit at some point.
