Guys I'm sure the answer to this is somewhere in these threads but I can only navigate so much with my cell phone so I apologize for asking this question yet again but how are the tennesse guns amd 65's imported? I have always figured they are complete single stack rifles imported like the wasr's but I know for a fact that TGI imported FEG receivers because I bought a virgin one and had a akm 63 kit built on it so I got to thinking maybe tennesse guns imported/imports the receivers and builds the kits. So are these imported single stack, opened up, barrel extension added and made compliant or built here as kits?
My understanding is that they import the FEG receivers and build the rifles stateside from kits.

That makes sense I just hear alot of people saying they are "factory built hungarian rifles" but I believe they are built here as well
I read a review from The truth About Guns that said the rifle were originally imported by FEG as SA2000m with single stack mags and thumbhole stocks. They went out of business without selling many. TGI bought alot of their stock and converted them into AMD-65's.

The only thing that leads me to believe this is not true is were did they get the rear trunion and wire folder unless from a parts kit?

This. We have them at work, & they come in boxes saying "MADE IN HUNGARY". But FEG is now making home appliances, so who is building these rifles in Hungary. Sort of like ISD building SSR 85C2's in Bulgaria. GARY N4KVE

If this is the case who is building the rifles in Hungary and why did TGI even import receivers? I have seen some early amd's that were built by them on sa2000 marked nodak receivers so TGI was building these as kits at one point in time also I had one on a FEG receiver that the barrel was marked with a import stamp and the serial number was not on the receiver but on the trunnion so that does make me think they are imported as rifles..hmmm
