US Palm BreakDown AK and Quad Stack Magazines
What is the general consensus on these two products? I'm sure the break down AK will be immediately popular once more configurations come out; but I'm not so sure on the quad stack mags. Quad stack mags have been finicky in the past.

neat...but why? the quad mags I could maybe understand, but the breakdown rifle? Eh.
Breakdown AK seemed entirely pointless to me, but pretty neat. I remember it being expensive, but don't remember the price they said it would carry.
I keep hearing "under 2 grand" which, for that little feature, is far too much IMHO; make it cheaper and they'll sell many more of them.
Yeah, the price will kill it. Also I remember them saying the barrels and trunions are specific to each other for headspace reasons. So if you want more than one barrel, they have to make it special for your rifle. So you can't just order a second barrel assembly so you can quick change between an SBR, 16 inch, or 20 inch barrel for the hell of it. You'd probably have to send your rifle in and have them make you a barrel just for it. That's why it just seems pointless to me. Neat, but I'll pass.
I remember the main gripe about the mags being a high price too. Like they are priced similar to a drum with less capacity.
I'm sure some guys will be all about both, but neither product is for me.
Exactly.
$100 for the 45rd mag, $80 for the 30rd
Any word on the mags? I thought these were supposed to be in production by now...
Why one Earth would you "breakdown" a rifle that is notorious for NOT BREAKING DOWN???
Completely nonsensical, pointless and ... well... stupid.

This does make it completely pointless.

If somebody had the expendable income it could make a good weapon for your vehicle.
How do people get the funding for these products I keep hearing about a bad economy but heck people can flush money down the drain on stupid ideas like this. The price point for the mags is just beyond silly especially with drums being had for $70. Like others have said why hasn't a company come out with quality US made 74 mags or drums that is what the consumers are asking for. The break down AK makes about as much sense as a hybrid suburban just saying.
This is almost as good as a SBR for discrete rifle carry. I could actually put one or two to good use if they are robust and reliable but not for anywhere near 2k. If US PALM would market their new product near 1k then I'd be on it like glue on a stick. OTOH 2k range is a non-starter.
I wonder if the US PALM expects the market to be so dry in Q3 that people will pay exorbitant prices for what ever they can get so that its before the election? This is just one man's opinion but I feel safe in opining $1.5-2k is A LOT of money to most gun owners for an AK variant, even if it is an innovative US made product. At any rate I wish US PALM good luck in their new endeavor.
Haven't gotten any of US PALM current production mags yet. Just so flush with steel mags that I really have little need for any others. Yet I think I'll give a 45 quad a try when they become available. Polymer 45 round mags could be preferable to steel 75 round drums in certain applications. Plus I don't mind paying a little more than the cost of Romanian mil-surp drums for quality US products. How else will we keep US jobs in the USA?

Yes, I can see it now... during a carjacking, home invasions, etc you tell your attacker: excuse me while I remove my "breakdown" AK out of this shoebox and insert the barrel, then bolt carrier group, spring and cover...
It's just silly.

As stupid as this is, I understand that there is in fact a "market" for new guns/accessories - the "gun nut" buys anything and everything he can. And the "prepper" well, from what I saw on one or two of those Nat Geo prepper/bunker shows, those miserable fucks would rather spend money on ridiculous shit over more important things (like healthy living, education or medical treatment) - just in case their socio-poli-enviro calamity fantasies come true - if anything to occupy their otherwise bleak lives.
I could actually see a use for a break down AK. I know people who have gone on long trips and discreetly broke down an M4. An AK that breaks apart easily and goes back together quickly would be a nice alternative. But 2000 bucks...eh. Even over 1000, I'm kinda leery.
Anything that a $2000 take apart AK does could be done better by two take apart ARs, that are already take apart without expensive modifications, and no headspace issues.

CCW is for carjackers. 12GA is for home invaders. A two piece AK would serve an altogether different purpose. It's just another tool in the toolbox, not a game changer IMO.
Speaking of miserable fucks, you sound like a ray of sunshine yourself there bud, but don't let me slow you roll.

"another tool in the toolbox" "game changer" You can use all the cliches you want, but they're just fluff with no substance. The fact remainsm a "breakdown" AK as marketed by the fella in the video was simply pointless. They have Krinks that fit in nice little packages.
You opined on the purposes of CCW and 12guages, but not for the "breakdown" AK, so please, enlighten us on what the "altogether different purpose" is that you suggest?
I'm not completely dense, there is one good thing about it - easy way to clean the barrel...
Oh, and apologies if I touched a nerve. I often forget that peppers can be overly sensitive, must be why they can see all those invisible dangers coming at us.
The quad stacks have plastic catches front and rear.
That makes them nothing more than range toys, just like all the other un-reinforced poly mags.
I'll stick to buying Bulgarian Circle 10s.

This.
At that price they are insulting to consumers for what they are. Build them like AK magazines are supposed to be built, then price them fairly and I'd be in.
Rumor was that someone, I think someone who makes Saiga 12 drums, was reverse engineering the Soviet quad stack magazine and planned on using steel lugs and lips, never heard anything more for over a year.

Yeah that was MD Arms. They had pics of prototypes and all, then just vanished. They are still in business, but who knows what came of that project.
