Ive got an Arsenal 74 ive been having some issues with. When at the range the last few sessions the bolt will blow back and feed another round into the barrel but the bolt will not completly close. it stays open JUST A TAD and gives the bullet a light primer strike but doesnt ignite the load.
Upon expection I look in the gas tube and it looks to me that it might have rust or maybe even powdercoat from the finish? could that cause the bolt to not close all the way? I dout its rust cause its brand new and only has 60 rounds down range and cleaned after both range trips.
Any input will be appreciated
I would call them and send it back to them to fix it.

Ive considered that but I cant stand to be without my rifle the month or more turn around time!
Id much rather fix it myself in an hour or take it to my gunsmith for repair... Its just killing me i dont know what the problem is.
if your tube is filled with "gunk" nine outa ten time the gas port hole is plugged also.get ya a pick or pipe cleaner and clean the gas hole and your problems should go away
oh and check your piston end,the timing or play could be preventing the piston to freely enter the gas block.just look for dings or bad rub marks on the end of it.this could slow it down from seating all the way.also check your bolt ride over the hammer, also could be slowing down the lock up..just a couple thoughts to ponder.

YEP! Think ive got it... All the "rust", oe powder coat I said i had seen in my OP seens to be leaving rub marks on the end of the piston..
Thanks... Im going to get a 12 guage brass brush and hook it to my drill and polish it up and remove all the crap and see if she runs better, im sure she will
Edit: This was a mag issue. i tried a few other mags my next range trip and could not duplicate this issue. It appeared the mag was sitting higher in the mag well than the others. I am assuming it was pushing up on the bolt cause it to jar in the chamber. Tossed that mag and had not had any firther issues.
