Bulgarian 74 Siderail
Does anyone know if the Bulgarian 74 Siderail will accept the SVD clamp?
It won't, at least not properly.
You can slide an SVD mount on from the front of the rail sometimes but there is nothing to keep it from walking forward under recoil.
Depending on the optic in question it's relatively easy to swap the base, for example PSO and POSP type optics are capapble of being switched. Basically you remove the 4 screws, break the glue seal and occasionally have to take two small pins out. About 5 minutes of work and you can swap back and forth between SVD and AK clamps for these types of optics.
Other optics with dedicated AK mounts like Kobra, PK-AS, 1P78 and Obzor for example, will not be able to swap between the SVD mount and the MTK83 AK clamp, but then again these will fit a Bulgarian rail just fine.
There are certain universal mounts that look like SVD mounts also...PK-AS, Obzor and PK-A will have these types. They look very similar but will work on AK's as well as SVD rails. (though I haven't tested Obzor on an SVD rail yet, I have done the PK-AS and it works as advertised)

I am aware that the clamps can be swapped. I have extra AK clamps. I was just hoping I could run SVD clamps with the Bulgy siderail. I have heard that the Romanian rails can accept SVD clamps, though not properly, but I have not been able to get them to accept one. Are you aware of any AK siderails that will accept the SVD clamps?
