I see quite a few guys buying these, and after handling one, I think I want one................tell me about them. Should I get one? I see the TGI, but also Interarms/High Standard makes one as well, and the one I saw looked really nice

Try to get wood furniture and lots of 20rnd mags, fun gun. I wrapped the wire stock in para cord.

No love for the Interarms version? I like the TGI one as well, but I am considering both of them

I have 2 TGI AMD-65s the fit and finish are excellent, they are very cool to shoot and somewhat accurate for a short barreled AK. I have read good and bad about all of the varieties, the only reason I got TGI is because they were there when the "bug bit me". If you want a compact, reliable AK then you need one.
I am hoping to eventually SBR one of them and leave the other one alone. On one I bolted an M4 front picatinny rail on the side of the hand-guard and mounted a flashlight. Turned out ok.

TGI is a good company. I had bought one of their AMD65 kit builds and when the welds on the muzzle brake broke, they replaced the gun with one of the brand new FEG AMD65s that they import. The AMD65 is a really cool rifle and it has probably the least recoil of any AK I've shot. How they manage to combine low recoil with the loudest rifle on the range I'll never know. I added one of the cheek risers that Giovanni guy is selling on this board (www.amd65tech.com) and it made a good gun into a great gun. You won't regret getting it at all And to echo what others have said - get the TGI one.

I've got a TGI build and love it. Accurate for what it is, and runs without any issues. The finish was nice, and the plastic grips weren't chewed up. I bought it at a dealer so I could examine several different rifles and choose the one I thought was the highest quality, rather than ordering online. The only little problem I've had is the gas-tube lever is very tight to move, but I fixed it with a little "love".

Cheers!

Man, I don't even know what my wife bought me except it's on a NDS rec'r. and I love it!

Shoot's fine, but LOUD as F&*K!!! I need a better compensator for it cuz I hate earplugs.

Also, Mine works just fine with 30rd mags and I've laid a nice little notch into the foregrip wood from removing them. that's character building
My next project is to make new wood tho. I want a cheek rest integrated with the walnut burl of the pistol grip. Totally different design as posted elsewhere here.
That's partly cuz I leave the wire stock collapsed. But making a collapsible wire stock is in the pipeline. I'll be sure to share...

Just bought one from J&G sales. Shot it last Friday and it is my new favorite AK. Loud and a huge muzzle flash. With the forward grip I am more accurate with this rifle than any of my other rifles including my Bushy AR15. I can rapid fire this thing to damn near full auto when shooting from the shoulder too and I lose minimal accuracy. Can't say the same for my other AK's or AR.

My only complaint with the TGI AMD65 I bought is that the finish is like paint more than anything. I honestly think that high temp ceramic engine paint would hold better. That and my brake weld cracked after about 200rnds. Other than those two gripes, it's a great AK for the price. Mine came to my FFL from AIM and after the shipping and $35 transfer, it ran me $455 OTD.

The stock locks up super tight, the sights are straight on, and I have no problem loading 30 and 40rnd mags or any of my drums. Definitely a hell of a deal!

How did you fix the brake that had the failed weld? My local dealer who sold me mine for $469 in December is now asking $519 for them.

Got mine from J&G. The receiver was scratched and gouged(not in shipping). It shoots okay but I wasn't expecting them to throw it down the driveway first

I just sold off a POS Tennessee Guns underfolder, wasn't a AMD but the quality was crap the safety was butchered, had to be rewelded and re machined, the barrel was twisted to the left. Bad quality milled stock on a stamped rifle, didn't fit and rubbed the rivet heads which were crooked. I have to say Century Arms quality is hands above those TGI builders... Compare and see, don't buy till you look inside. FEG receiver or not, beware of TGI

I have heard a lot of good things about TGI, and not much bad... I guess I'll find out when I get mine. Then again, I've never had a problem with anything I've owned that had Century stamped on it either!

Yeah I know the feeling when they don't keep failing like many other pretty AKs do.
