Removing and reinstalling spike bayonet...
A buddy of mine is buying a spiker from another state. Apparently that state requires the spike bayo to be removed before shipping. I'm not familiar with AKs so I have no idea how they are mounted. Is this a simple remount procedure or is he going to need a gunsmith? Thanks
I once had a double folder, and you don't need any tools. If I remember correctly, with the bayonet in a released position, you push it up and it will unlock from the base. I may have that wrong, but I do know they come right off with no tools needed. Just play with it until it comes off. I am assuming you are talking about just the spike.
You just pull back the spring loaded sleeve and unhook it from the pin
Watch out though, a few generations of the folding bayonet were not able to unhook from the gun. In the case of encountering one of those type you'll need to drill out the rivet holding it onto the FSB. So be careful with that.
