picked up my M10 couple days ago, deciding between the tradtonal 1063 or the m10, but could not resist what the new m10 has to offer on an ak platform. not much of doin a review but i will try my best. first thing i noticed right of the bat was the hogue grip, never knew a grip would make this rifle feel so right and well balanced at least in my hands. comes with 1 made in bulgarian smooth side mag, seems cheaply made compared to the bulgy 10s, the wire folder is not so bad when shouldered up usin irons. all matching numbers on rifle, impressed witht the barrel very nice chrome lined smooth and strong lands and grooves. no canted sights, but i thought it had but noticed the top hg was off which gave the illusion of the front sighst beeing off. i just straghtened the top hg. the rifle seems lighter as compared to your standard akm, maybe the barrel has to do with it seems to be thinner compared to others. not a fan of the brake, my ffl dealer kept racking the bolt back and forth and kept hearing a high pitched pingin, i grabbed the brake and went away, we started laughing. all in all this is my 4th type cugir ak variant and so fal i am pleased with all of them at a good price. will be doin a range report soon, for now some pics. Happy New Year

It looks like someone got a little too enthusiastic when they opened the magazine well.

I handled one of these the other day at a local dealer and it seemed like a decent blaster. Typical WASR fit and finish, but everything was straight on it and the action cycled smoothly. I would change out the muzzle device for something else, but otherwise I thought it was an OK rifle.

An A1 or A2 style flash hider would look much better.

for those who are interested on the m10, some range results fory ya. could only shoot 25 and 50y today. as i shot the m10 today, removed the hg i came with as i did not like how it clamped the upper and lower together and seemed un-even, as compared to jjust adding a seperate upper and lower. pictured is a caa lower hg and stock upper hg w/no rail, and caa stock and adapter which i can say is a very solid and comfortable stock shootin irons and a reddot. mount is a belarus bp02/sparc reddot w/2xmagnifier

sorry my eyes are not what they used to be

Nice shooting! I been really thinking about getting one of these. Don't need one as I've got 2 Wasr's already, but these are just a neat looking gun.

Add on a set of wood and it'd be a pretty gun. That or I'm thinking on adding an ACE sidefolder.

Old enough to know the difference between your and you're. I guess you've never been to CC.

Are the numbers matching on the components? Can we get a pic of the trunion stamps on the left side of the receiver?

From AIM's website, "The M10 AK-type Rifles is entirely manufactured from NEW parts." All the numbers will match since it is all new. They have pictures on the website where you can see the trunion stamps as well.

thanks man, still deciding on wood furniture. i really want to replace the muzzle brake, dont know if its standard ak threads. pretty much borrowed everything from my rpk just for testing accuracy on the m10, stock/mount etc....

Not a bad choice. I would probably roll with a J-Tac47 brake myself.

Thanks for the nice post, 671ar. Very nice rifle!

EDIT - sorry for the feed ramp question - confused Saiga with Cugir for some reason.

Thanks.

no problem, hope this thread at leasts helps others considering this ak variant. as for the feed ramps to be honest never really noticed until mentioned, but was curious to compare my mini draco and aes10b and all 3 have the exact same thing. ran about 600 plus rounds through my mini and never had a malfunction of any kind, the rpk about 400 rounds and also never had any malfunction, as for the m10 only about 80 rounds never had any issues but still eary to tell, and if anything i will post.
filed down the vented upper hg to fit, installed my rpk side folder pushbutton on the m10 and changed out the brake to a cut down psl brake

671ar,

You caught me before I edited my post. Sorry for the confusion. For some reason I was thinking Saiga instead of Cugir. So, someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure the feed ramp install is only a Saiga conversion / upgrade issue for use of standard military type magazines. The use of "feed ramps" or "upgrading feed ramps" (if ever needed) might even be a good issue in the technical discussion section however if it hasn't already been addressed. Thanks for keeping us updated on the new rifle. I would like to get one once I have enough milk money saved up.

The feed ramp or bullet guide is omitted from the Saiga rifles so that it will not accept and operate with a standard AK magazine. That is done so it qualifies under the "sporting use" clause in the Federal statute. The AKM style rifles must have the bullet guide installed in order to operate because the ramp which initiates the rotation of the bolt into the locked position is part of the bullet guide. That function is performed by the extra rivet (or stud) on the Saigas.
