Question on Bolt On Trigger Guard / Pistol Grip Bases for Saiga Conversions
I'm thinking about doing a Saiga conversion, but don't want to have to drill/cut the receiver to install a pistol grip.
I see that Carolina Shooters, Tromix, Dinzag and probably some others make "bolt on" trigger guard / pistol grip bases. I assume they use Locktite to secure the bolts to the receiver.(?)
My question: are these bolt on trigger guards sturdy enough to stand up to hard use (i.e.: so the bolts don't loosen and fall off or otherwise fail during use)? That is, are the bolt on trigger guards as strong as the riveted ones?
Thanks!
I reused the original trigger guard, but didn't drill any extra holes. I didn't secure the front end of it, but the way it was bent, it holds tight under the mag catch and doesn't wiggle or wobble any.
So, basically, you don't NEED to drill anything if you don't want to.
The trigger guards that have the Pg bases are for rifles/shotguns (not sure which) that don't have the PG nut hole cut. Though I thought that the Pg nut hole was where the sporter trigger emerged from. >_>...<_<...>_>
i'm leaning towards the Carolina Shooters Supply billet trigger guard / pistol grip base, as opposed to the Tromix and Dinzag trigger guards that appear to be sheet metal.

Anyone have any trouble with the Carolina TG/PG base?
Thanks!
No. I have one on a 12 guage and it is fine. Only thing is that you may need to shorten your bolt that holds the PG in. I had to do that on mine, no big deal, though.

Thanks for the info!
