SVD conversion Kit for Vepr ?
Starhoof  [Member]

I know that PSLs have conversion kits to make them look like an SVD, however, due to PSL being a surplus rifle (I'm afraid that parts gonna dry up one day) I was taking some interest in getting a Vepr instead... So I was wondering if there are conversion kits for Veprs to make them look like SVDs ?

Any help would be appreciated !

No one at the moment.

Maybe contact DSM Lab or Black Horse Arsenal to see if they have any plans to do so since they are the major players on this subject.

Vepr without question. I own both and the Vepr is a far better rifle all the way around and noticeably more accurate (at least in .308). No contest in my eyes.

I'm one of those people that love the Vepr thumbhole stocks. I find them very comfortable and functional.

Well, I'm planning to get in in 7.62x54r since its fairly common and cheap and I have good amount left... but when it comes down to it... is there any aftermarket parts available for Vepr right now ? and does it worth to get super-vepr instead of the regular one ?

We are working on a line of accessories for the Vepr, they will be ready next week. We pick them up from the anodizer Friday and I hope to have them up on the site early next week. There wont be a ton of them available for retail on this first run (Atlantic is getting a large part of them for their builds). There will be a rear tunion insert that doesnt require removing the tang but will require modifying the part of the stock that goes into the receiver, there is also a bolt on front handgard retainer and a set screw brake.

Do you think there will be any compatibility issues with the rear trunion insert & the vltor stock tube? I really like the vltor tube & CTR stock on my 5.45 saiga, but haven't put it on the vepr because I didn't want the end of the rifle left open.... My other idea was possibly doing a custom kydex insert on the vltor tube to close the hole.

Will the parts be available individually? I don't need a kit, just looking for the rear trunnion adapter.

We are going to start work on the SVD conversion kits in wood. The only problem I see is that most Veprs use the standard AK length gas system and that set up generally does not look as good as the long gas system when using the SVD style handgrips. The rear lower area of the receiver may give us problems but we should be able to figure something out.

This is what we are shooting for.

Anxious to see what you guys come up with - I know the SVD look won't be right with the AK length system, but I'd be more concerned with functionality over looks.....

I'd really like to see the SVD polymer stock on Vepr. The stock is available for Saiga, but not yet for Vepr.
