Anyone know where I could buy one?

I ordered a couple of these a while back and both slings were in very good condition.

ETA: Pic of one of the slings I picked up from Numrich:

A quick wash in the kitchen sink and it was nearly good as new.

Ah, thank you very much. I will definitely be ordering one. How did you wash yours? You use laundry detergent or dish soap or what?

Also, I need a cleaning rod as well, will the 15 3/4" rod work or do i need a 15 1/2"?

I used Dawn dish soap. That sling shown had some rust and cosmoline stains along with the usual dirt and the Dawn did an excellent job of cleaning it up.

The 15 3/4" rod is what you want. The Soviet rod on Numrich's site is an excellent match for the finish on my Yugos. I picked up 3 of them from there.

Thanks for the link, Liquidmetal...

I ordered a couple of the accessory kits today...hopefully the slings aren't too bad. I have a Yugo SKS & it'll be nice to have some correct goodies to go with it.

HERE'S THE LINK AGAIN...

I ordered two of the kits, but one of the slings was missing the metal thing that holds the tension.

Does anybody know where I can get one of those cheap? I'm tired of buying 10 items when all I really need is 1

Last week, I got the two kits that I ordered...everything in them was obviously used.

The SKS stripper clip ammo pouches in both kits were in Good+ condition...one probably could be called Very Good.

One of the tube cleaning kits was used in Good condition...but the other was New...as in unused, perfect condition & loaded with cosmoline.

Both "Pull-Throughs" were used in Good condition.

The brass oilers were tarnished but cleaned up nicely...actually really a cool item. But the leather pouches they came in were totally oil soaked/fubar, so I shit-canned the pouches.

The slings...the slings were pretty grungy & had some rust spots on them and the metal parts had rust on them. I dropped them in the washing machine by themselves using the low water level setting with hot water and a double-dose of Tide laundry detergent...

HO-LEE SHIT!!!, did the water turn filthy! I ran them through the rinse cyce twice to make sure I got all of the detergent out of them and then hung them over the shower curtain bar overnight to let them air dry...The material came out nice and clean but still had some minor rust spots...big deal, I can live with that.

Next, I went to work on the metal...a couple of drops of CLP on a Q-Tip and rubbing it on the rust got some of it off. I then took some "0000" steel wool and began rubbing that on the rusted areas. A little work, but the rust came off...the black finish on the metal was relatively undisturbed except on the spots that were rusted. A little minor pitting in those spots but easily touched-up with some black paint. The slings are still obviously used but cleaned up nicely & are perfectly serviceable with a minor rust spot here and there but no fraying or tears.

A little work? Yes. Worth it? Again, Yes.

In fact, I'm probably going to order 2 or 3 more of the kits to tinker around with & have some spares...I'll probably end up with a Yugo underfolder or another Yugo SKS one of these days.

Your slings sound a little rougher than mine. I had a little dirt/grime on the canvas and zero rust on the metal. That's the thing about buying used surplus, it can be a real crapshoot.

Glad it all worked out for you in the end.

Heck, my sling was pretty much GTG. It had two minor, very small rust spots, I decided to leave them. I wiped a bit of rust from the buckle, and put it on the rifle. All in all excellent condition.

I ordered 2 more of the kits from Numrich...they're running low and I thought it would be a good idea to grab a couple more of the slings while I still could...

HERE'S THE LINK ONE MORE TIME...

Again, they're running low...if you snooze, you lose!

I'll post an AAR when the cleaning/maint. kits arrive...should be in about a week...

I ordered 2 more to cover any future Yugo purchases. I think I have 10 or so Yugo slings now. Should do it...

The 2 kits I ordered late last week arrived today...

Pretty much the same as the last 2 kits reviewed above, except one of the slings is slightly narrower than the others and has a more pronounced texture...looks like it might have been woven a bit different. Also, the clip is flipped over the other direction when compared to the others. I get the feeling this might be an older sling...M64 sling, maybe? Or possibly an SKS sling while the others are AK slings?

Of the 4 slings I have, 3 are pretty much OD Green while 1 has a much more bluish-green tint to it...it's by far the nicest of the bunch and will go on my M70B1 when I get around to getting it built.
