Guys,

Looking at some of these pre bans that are up 4 sale. My question is: Are they chamber for both? I see some that say .223 rem on the side some say .223/5.56? Some of the info I have found on IMI is that they are all chambered 5.56. Can someone clear this up for me. Thanks

.223 = 5.56mm, 5.56mm = .223, you can shot both they are the same thing for all intensive purposes. It's just a civilian name vs. military designation, the specs being a teeny bit diff but not enough to make any difference, mostly due to chmber dimensions in the military specs having a little more tollorence for dirty rifles, etc. It's all the same.

.223 and 5.56 are NOT the same. 5.56 is loaded at a higher pressure and could be dangerous to fire in an .223 gun. But you can shoot .223 in a 5.56 rated gun no problem. My galil(imi) is rated for 5.56

ok did some research and talked to a guru today. This is what I found. All IMI's are chambered 5.56. The fellow told me that depending on the importer; was either 5.56 or .223 rem on the side. He said all these IMI's that were imported were specifically made for the US market. So they stamped the .223 rem on the side. Some had both markings. Just depended on importer. If you go to some of the IMI research websites you will see that none of the imports were chambered .223. They all say 5.56 in the tech data. This is what I have found. I am not an expert so, you experts pipe in...

What about the Golani? My Golani is stamped ".223" I'd like to be sure 5.56 is safe and healthy in it. Any Golani owners using 5.56 regularly?

Galil's, AK's, AR's are miltary syle rifles and all will shoot mil spec ammo. There may be a few rifles built to 223 specs, I havent run across one yet!
