Steel Case Ammo in Galil
How does this work in 5.56/223 Galils? Thanks for input!
It's an AK, fmig. Shouldn't have any problem.
Only steel case ammo problems I have seen are from Wolf black box fmj and hp.
Empty steel case gets stuck in chamber and you have to bang a cleaning rod down the barrel to pop it out!
Last Friday a guy was shooting his m4 and one got stuck in the chamber. He showed me box and it was wolf 55 fmj. He bent one of my rods getting it out but I didnt care.
Have seen it personally and recreated the situation over 5 times with Wolf 55gr hollow point in my galil.
After i knock it out, I then shoot ANY other steel cased commie ammo and they all run perfect (barnaul sp, wolf military classic sp, any fmj, and on and on). Again, I have done this at least 5 times to test it.
Wolf black box 55gr hp NEVER gets stuck in my bolt action rifle. just semi autoloaders.
Once the chamber gets hot, the laquer starts to come off the shell and stick to the chamber, at this point it becomes hard for the rifle to pull them out.
Is your rifle a Golani or IMI Galil? The Green Mountain barrels will not have chrome lining and might have a tighter tolerance.
It an original 18" AR model!

Bull Sh*t; Will this myth EVER die!?!
Do not believe what you read on the internet!
I shoot this stuff all the time in every gun I own and I've never had a problem.
All i shoot in my Galil AR and my Golani is Wolf 55 gr black box...thousands of rounds without a problem or failure... accurate too! However I will not shoot it in my AR's...too dirty.

I concur. I will not shoot steel case through my AR. BRASS ONLY.
We're just the opposite as all we run in our machineguns is Wolf with the only exception being the PPSh and beltfeds that are converted to shoot surplus 8mm. Thousands upon thousands of Wolf without any problems ammo related.
I've used Wolf, Brown Bear, and Monarch in my ORF Galil home build, and the wolf was a little under-powered, but the rest of it worked just fine.
All I shoot in my Galil AR and my Golani is Wolf 55 & 62 grain Black box. I have zero problems and in fact the 55 grain is the load my Golani likes best!
Snake-in-the-Grass +100 I have gone through boat loads of 55 and 62 gr. black box wolf without so much as a hickup. I get so tired of the Wolf haters out there...granted I shoot brass in my AR platforms, but keep in mind the Ak variants wich a Galil basically is, were made to shoot steel case ammo.....

Just to clarify... I love steel case ammo. I could not shoot as much if it wasnt for steel case ammo. I have just tested this one type and reproduced issue multiple times and have seen it in totally different guns at the range. Wanted to pass along info.
I shoot a lot of steel cased ammo, Wolf and whatever, cost is the factor....But it's nasty to clean, not like good old US gunpowders...but it works.
