How do I get a stock on this receiver?

I've got this TGI receiver that has an UF trunion on it as I'm told and I'm wanting to know how to get a side folding ACE stock (or even an AR stock) attached. From some pictures I've seen I have to drill two holes in the back of this receiver then attach something?

1) What stock attachment method and part do I need to put a folder or telescoping stock
2) Is there a video or instructional for how to do it? (I'm looking on youtube...just thought I'd ask here since i"m not finding much)

Thanks in advance. My goal is a side folder or telescoping AR stock (one that is as straight as possible, not angled down like the native AK stock).

Here's what I got:

First order an ace folding Mech. You will have to cut the tang off the back of the rifle. Line up the folding Mech. mark your holes. Drill and tape these holes. Then mount your folding Mech. Bolt on the stock of your choice. Or you can remove the rear trunnion and buy one that is preped for the folding Mech. Hope this helps.

Can I cut off the tang and mount a stock like you guys do with your Dracos? Or do I need to cut off the whole back?

Sorry, that's what you said. Any preferred vendor to get that ace stock from?

Ok, so this is the folder mech piece that gets screwed into the back of the receiver (after cutting off the tang)...using those two holes to screw in with regular hardware bolts and nuts? Or does it come with bolts?

Then I can use a regular ace stock that'll attach to this mount? Is it that easy? Pricey, but that easy?

Sorry for the dumb questions. Just trying to understand how it all works.

I don't get the duct tape.

So is this something that can be attached to the same receiver plate and allow for a normal fixed stock? Perhaps an AR stock?

He was making a joke about using duct tape to attach it... lol As for the ACE setups, first decide what stock you want to use. If you want to use an ACE stock then get the hinge assembly and bolt their stock on. If you want to use an AR stock, either get the ACE AR adapter for the hinge, or buy the hinge designed for AR stocks. Stormwerks (Sp?) also has a hinge assemble that's pretty nice.

I believe I'll do a fixed (non-folder) AR stock. I'm assuming this will work:

Universal carbine adapter on the AR180 type one stock adapter? Or can I skip the AR180 type one stock adapter and just drill the hole (maybe two instead of just the one) into the back of my receiver and bolt it on?

Also, with this type of adapter, and then with an AR stock screwed into it (tube and stock), the stock will go straight back out of the receiver making the comb higher (as needed with a scope), no?

That stock adapter will work if your plan is to not do a side folder. The general installation plan would be to align the adapter, mark the position for the bolts, drill the holes and then tap threads into the trunnion. The steel is extremely hard though and many have broken their taps trying to thread the holes. Some others have drilled the holes without tapping and attached locking nuts (and Loctitie) on the inside of the trunnion.

This is a good Youtube video (embed youtube option does not appear to work ;-)

Additionally you will need a castle nut, buffer tube and stock. I prefer milspec stuff, just keep in mind to match your parts up whether or not you get commercial or milspec.

There is a very nice Draco with OD green furniture on it and a Magpul CTR stock. Exact same setup you want to do.

Yep, that's it! Thanks so much for the video link. While I still don't know what a tap is/means, I'm just going to drill the holes then use bolts with some red loctite probably. And I've got my milspec moe stock, tube, and castle nut ready to order. I wonder what the shortest LOP will be with just the AR adapter attached to the receiver and a fully collapsed MOE stock? Anyone know off hand? 10" maybe? I also just realized that the empty buffer tube can double as a storage compartment! Maybe I can rig the stock end to be open and open the tube end for storage. I bet I can get a snickers in there! jk

Thanks one and all for the help on this. Hope I can cut that tang off cleanly...I'm guessing a dremel wouldn't be best. I"ll probably hack saw it as close as I can get then grind the rest flat and hope I don't destroy the end! I also hope that trunion isn't real thick but I think it's going to be a good 1/8".

A tap is used to thread a bare hole (a DIE is used to thread the barrel).

I don't see any problem with you drilling the holes and attaching lock nuts with Loctite, but I know its not the preferred method.

This might help

A hack saw and final finish with a dremel is good idea. Exercise care though, as the pignose isn't going to cover the area where you cut the tang off. For a nice finish, you will need to do your finish work with some sand paper, then primer and paint.

The trunnion is at least 1/2" thick, probably close to 3/4" but it depends upon which rear trunnion you have.

Ok, it's done! Got a stormwerkz universal mount, a MOE stock, tube, and castle nut, some good strong bolts and nyloks and put this sucker together. The hogue grip came today and I'm so glad I got it instead of the ergo...ergos are too skinny. I know some purists out there won't like my bubbified/tacticooled monstrosity and they'll just have to get over it. Meet my Bulgarian wonder gun...his name is Kpym (Krum).
