How does your SO carry their weapon??
My fiancee is starting to get into the mindset of carrying, and I have a friend's wife going the same way (just turns out they are friends too!) We have started looking at some guns, but nothing serious. She has shot a couple of my guns, but not many. Only my G19 and a friends G23. She liked the G23, but I dont know how she would carry it.
Now, I know the "let her shoot and feel lots before we buy" and thats what we are planning on, but I am more looking at how your SO carries the weapon. I am very interested in "on body" carry.
Just to go ahead and say it, this is not a "show a picture of your GF with a gun" thread, just a way to learn different things about female CCW.
My Wife carries her LC9 in her purse.
My wife carries her ppk in her purse and has something else on her hip-just in case

on my belt
My g/f is getting ready to take her CHL but we have been trying different methods. I advise against purse because women set purses down and they have to have them glued to themselves otherwise you are leaving an unattended firearm. Plus hard to draw from a purse.
She is starting to like my comp-tac Minotaur.
This young lady is very informative......... your welcome

When open carrying she caries in an OWB belt holster.
When CC'ing she carries in an Uncle Mike's fannny pack.
Mine carries a G27 loaded with a 23 mag for the extra rounds and a little more grip. Carries in either her purse or on hip depending how she is dressed. Just remember that if it's in her purse she has to be careful to not leave it laying around and tokeep a secure grip on it so it don't get snatched.

For those who carry on the hips, what gun and holster combo do they use? pictures would be a plus (but please remember, I am not looking for her sexiest pose with the gun holster setup, just a where she carries it and how it hides.
She is petite, and dresses like normal women our age dress, shirt to the waistline, maybe longer. I like the idea of AIWB on her, but dont know if she will, and dont want to force it on her. I know carrying is very personal, but with someone who she can see how it hides. I would like 9mm since that what I have, but I do like the idea of the JFrame on her. Not really liking a 380 for her, especially not a P238 SA setup.
We may do some looking and feeling on some guns here soon to see what she likes. I really like a G19 or something, but thats too big for her to conceal I think.
My GF has a G19, that she carries in a fanny-pack when travelling around. She has an LCP for concealed carry on her person too. It's a very recent gun purchase. The idea is for her to have a gun she carries everywhere, not off-body such as a purse. She has been tucking in her waistband cross draw in a cheapo pocket holster that we got with it, or using the Nemesis we bought. Both pocket holsters do cover the trigger guard area, just don't stay put very well. She does put it in her purse after arriving at work or home. The draw is placed closely to where the fanny-pack sits. She has also pocket carried it in a coat pocket. Her britches are too form fitting for pocket carry most of the time

My gf carries a Glock 19 in a regular purse she likes. She modified it to securely hold the pistol and spare magazine and flashlight.
Sometimes she uses a Maxpedition shoulder bag.

This is what I am thinking too, and to why I dont think a "compact" (read G19 size) would work IWB, or anything IWB for that matter.
my wife carries the jelly pepper spray stuff in her purse as well as a plastic T-handle shaped like a cat on her key ring.
I try to get her to OC (she's 20) but she refuses.
I hope when she hits 21 she'll carry in her purse at least
she has an XD9SC waiting for her, now I just gotta get me one, thing is nice.

Fanny pack or purse
Kahr cw9 roughlyin the circle.

Turned the wife on to this site.
Cornered Cat
1911 Springfield in her purse or a XD40SC in a supertuck at the 330 area. Along with a Kershaw Blur

Here are some recommendations:
If she wears Bell Bottoms, consider an ankle holster.
She NEEDS to be open for IWB...Its almost always the easiest place.
Look into a CrossHair SuperTuck, they are VERY comfortable. My brother uses one for his Glock, Im going to get one for my CZ82.
Does she wear shawls? consider underarm setup.
Try holsters on the thighs?
You could also look into a belly band. Very good option there...
Just have to shop around. Easiest way is to have he model some different outfits that cover the variety of her wardrobe, and observe places she can CCW.
The easiest place for almost any woman is in the small of her back. If she has a tattoo back there though, she might not be into that.
Is it like a holster shirt? How is the draw out of the holster?
It appears that the purse carry is winning in the long run, and I like that she can carry a larger gun there. I just dont like that its off body and its in what theives target and pray on.
I am thinking that maybe in a purse she has we can get a holster setup in there to hold the gun nicely and securely. Spare mag/speed strip and flashlight in the purse as well, and easy to get too (well, we need to clean out the purse first

) for a bigger gun, or maybe something like a LCP or JFrame for on body carry.
With her dress style, IWB isnt out of the question, but would require some changes in dress, which wouldnt go over very well lol

Desantis Nemisis. It doesn't move.

It's Crossbreed, not CrossHair. My wife is waiting for her Supertuck to come in the mail for her Kahr CW9. Before we got the CW9, she carried her Sig P238 either OWB in a small Desantis Stinger belt holster, or in a gun purse.
G26 in supertuck or lcp in purse, pocket, or belly band.
Purse carry AD/ED, plus separate firearms in her vehicles.
Yes, off-body isn't "optimal" IMO... but no, she isn't going to change after nearly three decades of doing so and at least she carries a nice "holster-purse" with a separate and readily accessible handgun compartment (among other upgrades) instead of just dropping it into a bottomless abyss of a handbag like so many women do (<cough> Mom <cough> Sis ). She is always very aware of her surroundings and the location/security of her purse, and I am thankful for that at least.
On-body > off-body> no gun at all
JMHO, YMMV.
My wife carries hers in a
Flashbang bra holster.
My wife hates wearing belts, so she went with a Remora holster. It works pretty well, even when she decides to carry in a purse. She is making herself a 'garter' for it as well for when she wears skirts or dresses. Definitely worth checking these holsters out.
I'm going to try and ask this delicately...
Is there any way to get a different picture of this setup? Possibly with a t-shirt under the tank tops so she can show how it goes? I have a similar holster, and my wife is similarly 'proportioned' to yours. She carries a CM9, which is slightly smaller than the CW9. I think she would be interested in this.
Thanks!
Depends on the situation.
75% of the time it's a G19 in a Galco Purse.
Belly band and ankle come in to play depending on venue and attire that don't support carrying a bulky purse.
Sometime, although rarely, she'll just carry OWB in a bladetech and throw a light shirt on over it.. She's small framed and OWB isn't as easy to get away with for her.
Honestly I've found is that it's just not as easy for women to commit to 1 method of carry as it may be for men.
My wife carries a G27 every day with Crossbreed Super Tuck.
She has no problem carrying while seated all day at her desk, walking, or in the car.
Might even try the small of her back. Something like the Ruger LCP isnt a bad option either
She does not, but i'm working on fixing that.
my wife is going to start carrying her glock23 also.. we're in the same predicament
One of my good friends carries her Sig P238 in a Galco Tuck and Go IWB holster.
She carries her Springfield Armory Micro Compact in her purse.

Light weight 357 in a fanny pack-purse.
GM
LCP in a flashbang, m&p9c in a Galco ankle lite or m&p9 in a kydex iwb (very rarely)
Ditto on the LC9 in purse.
My wife mostly carries either an XD9 subcompact or a SP101 in a Coronado Leather Hobo purse. She puts the loops over her shoulder and has the purse under left arm with the gun compartment zipper in front. Its almost like a shoulder holster when carried this way.
