Holster recommendation needed for G19
I'm looking for recommendations for a G19 that will be carried while scouting/hunting/whatever in the outdoors.
The pistol will be open-carried, a quick draw is not really my priority, protecting my pistol from scuffs, scrapes and scratches from the brush is.
Thoughts and recommendations?
for OWB i use a raven phantom... for IWB i use a crossbreed supertuck for my 19
i like my phantom. they are a bit overhyped but nice holsters... i'd skip the "MC cut"
today USPS should be bring me a "regulator" from UBG holster
the wait time and the price is right i can't speak to the quality as its not in my hands but i have never heard a bad review

My Glocks :)

Raven Concealment Phantom. Best Kydex maker on the market IMHO.
oh and i wouldnt worry about it get scratched.... its a glock they are supposed to get beat to hell
For that purpose a cheap old Uncle Mikes holster would work just fine. That's what I use as a 'gun rug' for stuffing it in the door pocket of the car or the center console, and that's what I use for bedroom drawer duty- and it's been serving perfectly in that capacity for years. I also strap in on the belt every now and then when in the woods. Works fine when concealment and a quick draw are not important and you just need something to stick the gun in and carry it safely from here to there.
Uncle Mikes Sidekick size 15 is the one you need for G19, also fits a S&W 3919, or Commander sized 1911.
I was going to recommend a Raven as well, but for your purposes, a cheaper holster will be just fine too.
Check out the bladetech revoulution.. I have one for my G19 and really like, under thirty dollars also.
+1 for the phantom
Safariland 6377
So my UBG holster came today... i'd like to change my answer to get a UBG "regulator" only took 3 weeks and it was $70.

you need to come to terms that your glock is a TOOL that is meant to be used, worn, and there to save your ass...not as a safe queen; if you want it like so, keep it at home
but, if you really insist, then you need a holster that will keep it underraps; i suggest the factory glock hardcase

Why are you carrying a handgun? If it's just for shooting tin cans, leave it in the case it came in. If you want it for self protection, you'll
need to be able to draw as fast as possible. You can't pick and choose when you'll need it, similar to the old saying when seconds count the
police are minutes away. So, when you need your handgun, you need it NOW.
The best OWB I've found is a SERPA. Locks the weapon in place and only comes out when you want it to. I can draw mine and get off an accurately aimed double tap incredibly fast.
For outdoor carry where I'm doing a lot of walking I carry a Serpa, forget about IWB for those kind of activities. I also sometimes carry in a Hawke pak fanny pack for long hikes. I agree with other posters, you may want to reevaluate your priorities, if you are carrying a gun, holster functionality should be your top concern, not protecting the gun from scratches.
That what I do also.

I carry my 19 in a crossbreed supertuck every day, and I like it alot.
However, you did specify OWB. I have the $15 Glocksport holster also. I got it for IDPA. Despite its cost, it functions quite well. Before recommending it, I just confirmed that there is enough retention for it to hold a Glock while being shaken upside down. If you have an extended mag release, the gun will not seat all the way. It will go in far enough to hold the gun securely, but it may not have enough retention to hold it upside down. This is not an issue with the standard mag release, including Gen 4.
For those who carry a G19 IWB, can you just throw a T-shirt on over it and not have printing? I'm a jeans/t-shirt kinda guy - 95% of the time.

I carry an XD of exactly the same size, and I can, around 3:30 there will be no printing when seated or standing, but bending over there will be.
OP: Get to the local gun store and pick up the cheapest uncle mike's holster you can find that will fit a G19. If you're not worried about concealment or necessary retention (in public), then you don't need a high- or even medium-dollar holster. When out in the woods, I put my XD in the crappy (but useful) little OWB holster that comes with it. Does the job just fine. Won't conceal shit, but it works just fine in the woods.

A G19 in a CTAC with a Wilderness Instructor's or The Beltman belt? Yes.
Raven makes a good holster but BRAVO CONCEALMENT is also an excellent kydex and has a 20 day wait not a 20 week wait.

I carry a G23 this way all day every day, winter and summer. I have no problem concealing it with just a regular fitting T-shirt, Tommy Theiss holster (same as Crossbreed) and a good quality gun belt (I use a Wilderness 5-stitch or a Beltman). The holster and belt make all the difference in the world.

EXACTLY!!!!!!
For outdoors use and OWB, I'd go with a Kydex or even an injection molded paddle with the trigger/finger lock. If you go with leather OWB, I highly recommend UBG Holstsers also; I've got them for my G27, G23 and M&P40. Nate's consistent with his excellent craftsmanship and low wait times. Here are mine all shark trimmed.

Those are beautiful! Sure remind me of the Alessi CQC-S...

For CCW I use a CTAC but for the woods the Glock factory belt slide type holster works well and it cheap. I also have a couple SERPAs that work well and Safariland makes some good options as well.
I bought a mtac OWB holster for a g17 at thanksgiving when they were offering there black friday sale. In my opinion it's top notch. So I say go for it with the g19 model.
For woods carry, I want a holster with some kind of retention device.
More than one person has lost a pistol in the woods because it has falling out of the holster while being active in the woods.
