 XD holster recommendations

I have a 4" XD 45 and I will be getting my CC Permit next week. I am already looking into a small "pocket pistol" as a secondary option but I would like to carry my XD if possible. Do any of you carry the 4" XD, and if so, what holster, belt, etc. do you use? Any recommendations are appreciated.

I use a crossbreed super tuck holster and a crossbreed belt, it fits all of the XD's as well as my SIG 220.

The kholster, tommy theis holster, comptac mtac, etc, will all work as well.

Make sure you play with the cant (which angle the gun is at by adjusting the hooks up and down) before you give up on it.

Because of my build I cant the pistol forward at 4 o'clock on my belt and it disappears behind my hip bone.

I have actually slept with my XD in my super tuck all night when I went camping...just lay on your offside :)

I carry a 4" XD9 in a Comp-Tac MTAC. Before that, I used a Raven Concealment holster. Both are good holsters, but the MTAC is much more comfortable for inside the pant carry.

I use a double thickness leather belt with a plastic stiffener I got from the gunshow. Sorry, I don't remember the brand, buy there are plenty of places that make such belts.

For a spare magazine I am currently using a Fobus single mag pouch with a paddle holster. While being a bit bulky, I find it has good mag retention and slips on and off my belt easily. I also have one of the Comp-Tac single mag pouches that tuck inside your pants, but I find it to be uncomfortable as it digs into my side.

If you willing to wait I'd suggest a raven concealment holster

Thanks! Both of those look like solid options. That SuperTuck especially looks like it would actually be comfortable. I see a lot of IWB holsters that look like they would be painful.

One followup question. Since the XD is a fairly "thick" gun, do you find that you need to wear pants that are a larger waist size than you would normally wear?
Thanks again.

This is my get-up. 4" xd9 in a comp-tac minotaur spartan, with an ares ranger belt. This, for me, is the perfect setup. I've gone through many holsters to find the comp-tac to be the most comfortable IWB holster I've ever worn. The spartan is the same thing as the MTAC, just not colored and covered (it's not as pretty, but cheaper). I'd recommend a look at the ares ranger belt, as it does an AWESOME job, and the comp-tac holster is AWESOME. Give them a good look. For me, it was the reholstering ability of kydex, combined with the on-skin comfort of leather that made that holster perfect for me.

As far as my pants go, I don't buy a size larger. Some of my tighter pants are a pain to put on, but to solve it i put the empty holster on, then pants, then holster the gun. MUCH easier than trying to button up a tight pair of pants with the gun in the holster. Most of my pants and shorts are loose-fitting, as I like it that way, and it makes carrying easy.

I wear my pants loose anyways so I don't really have a size larger but yes, an extra inch or two doesn't hurt.

I have found the MTAC and CTAC to be the most comfortable IWB holster for every day carry.

+1 for the Crossbreed Supertuck. I carry my full size XDm9 in one all the time and will eventually rotate that with a 4"service XD45.

if you get a hybrid, get a MTAC over the CB; if not, the raven or its knockoffs tend to be solid choices

betl: wilderness, milt sparks, and beltman

I have a Galco IWB that I LOVE!

It's low pro and streamlined. You need a decent belt, but I find it to be very comfortable.
