I'm looking for a decent leather holster for OWB carry with a full size 1911. What do you recommend for the most "comfort" and stability?

I took your advice for my first 1911 holster. I went this way because it was relatively inexpensive, decent reputation, and.... drum roll please.... They had one in stock, already shipped it and I should have it by Saturday!

My only concern is the cant, but without it "in hand" it's a tough call. We'll see what happens on Saturday.

BTW... Rachel was a joy to work with. I had a couple questions and my email was responded to within minutes! I didn't even have enough time to grab a cup of java and she had written back! That's a wait time of only 8 steps!! Gotta love that!!

Believe it or not, I have found a good holster in a cheap form. I bought an Tagua leather holster for mine while I searched for a "better" one and I never got to the more expensive holsters because it works quite well.
My only complaint is that it doesn't hold as close to my body as I would like but for $35 it's great. Holds the gun very well and spreads out the weight just like I would like.

Very cool! I also liked the price and the in stock status. Kirkpatrick has a great rep and is well deserved based on my experiences. Like you I was worried about the lack of cant. But I was pleasantly surprised at this holster. I think it conceals better than my kirkpatrick 1911 pancake holster.

I have a Tagua for my M&P. You're right, they are a very nice holster for the money.

I've been through a bunch of holsters in 30 years. I really like Nick Matthews holsters. I wear one everyday at work or off duty. Well made, nice leather, quick delivery and very reasonable.

Gear is very personal. That being said, you can narrow things down by asking a few questions: Do you have a preference for kydex, leather or nylon? Retention or no retention? As for stability, it all starts with a decent belt.

I've been using this RCS for a govt. 1911 OWB and have been very pleased with the holster.

I know! And look how long it took for someone to back me up! EDC in a CQC-S, I don't bother with IWB carry any more because the CQC-S hides the gun just as well, and soooooo comfortable.

I sure did. In fact today was my first FULL, 8 hour+ day carrying my stainless TLE II.

As mentioned in another post, gun gear can be a very personal thing. And for me, that may mean looking elsewhere for a more comfortable holster. From the time I dressed to the time I sat down for dinner I had it located at roughly the 3:30 to 4:00 position which typically is the "sweet spot" for me. However, this time, the lack of angle proved to be a bit "wearing" on me. Kind of tough to explain but the gun/holster combo never really disappeared and always made itself known in one way or another. Maybe it was the added length. Or lack of angle. Or that it's just TOO new. Whatever the reason, it never felt like a part OF me but more of a part ON me. Could have been my belt too... I used my everyday 2" wide instructor's belt that has extra backing so it's quite stiff. This belt works fine with my EMP or Kimber Ultra Tac II... Hmmm....

After only ONE day, I think it's tough to rule the TSS out completely. I'm going to try it again tomorrow with a different belt to see if that makes a difference.
