Sig mags...WTF??
Have a new P226 .40 Tacops. Was thrilled (at first) that it came with four 15 round mags. These things SUCK!! Have done a little research on the google machine and it sounds like they're Checkmate mags. I've stripped them down and they don't say Checkmate any place on them.
Can load 10 rounds by hand with no issues. After that I throw an old ADCO mag loader on and use my body weight to get the rest of the rounds down. Of course it's not worth the hassle of loading the damn things because I get constant fail to feeds with them. Is it a follower issue with these mags?
Considering sending them to Sig but I feel like they'll just replace them with four more Checkmates.
I've got several MecGar mags for other pistols and have had no issues so I'll be upgrading soon.
Has anyone had any luck sending their problem mags back to Sig?

I must have 80 to 100 sig mags and never had that problem
I've heard of people calling Sig CS and having luck switching Checkmate mags out for MecGar's. It seems some guns are shipping with Checkmates and others are shipping with older stock MecGars, you just were unlucky.
I've got the same gun. My mags are easy to load and function perfectly. I'll have to check them when I get home to see who made them.
Clean and DEGREASE the followers and the inside of the magazines. I suggested it to another guy on this site, and he said it fixed his magazine problems.
A: Clean them, make sure there aren't hangups or burrs anywhere.
B: Call Sig, get it fixed.
C: In the future, buy the superior Mec Gar magazines aftermarket and save money.
They've all been stripped and cleaned/inspected several times. All of the components look good. It's almost like the geometry inside the followers is out of whack.
Just put 4 Mec Gars on order. I'm going to send 2 of the originals back to Sig and see what they can do. I'll keep the other 2 to mix in with the Mec Gars during training to so that I'll have some FTFs to deal with.
As usual, thanks for the input guys.

I bought two Sig branded 20 rounders that had the same issue. They have run just fine for me after swapping the followers for mecgar followers.
Here is what the old Sig follower looks like (out of an old 10 round mag) next to the new junk Sig follower:
Crap on left, functional on the right.
I was getting feeding issues that looked like this:
I switched to Mecgars which have been 100%, but those two Sig 20 rounders I have do work just fine after swapping the followers. It is a frustrating problem, especially after you spend the premium for Sig mags over Mecgar and get shit mags.
I really messed up.
A couple of years I bought a second SCT that came with five Mecgar SCT mags. I figured I didn't need that many hi-capacity mags and sold four of them for around $120 together. That left me with five SCT mags and a lot of standard cap Mecgar mags.
I imagine with all this Checkmate crap, I could have gotten a lot more for them today...
Caboose,
Great info!! I'll be upgrading to the Mec Gar followers. Hoping that my results turn out as well as yours. Thanks for the help.
Gig em!!

Looks like I spoke too soon. Just spent some time looking around and can't find a place to source Mec Gar followers for the 226. Going to give Sig a call on Monday to see what they can do. In the mean time, does anyone have a line on where to get them?

Check out Top Gun Supply. It looks like they have what you seek.

This should work, I think.

Not near as many as you
I have 2 10rd mags and 2 12rd mags
Dont know who made them? says Germany on the wrapper
anyway very high quality! Even the 2 shitty 10rd mags run great.
So now all the newer sig mags = junk now
Sounds like that story of the new boss that took over in 2004 and sig became POS that same day

That looks like the right one. Thanks for the help Eric.
