P226 On the way, what should I know? *UPDATE NEW QUESTION*
I have a new P226 .40S&W on the way soon. Done alot of reading about this model, shot one a few times at a local rental range and decided to grab one. I'm sure I still have alot to learn about this pistol. It has a short reset trigger, sig nite sights and the E2 grips. Been looking at some extra mags. Mec-gar seem to be popular and 15 rounders can be had. Are these good mags or should I stay with Sig mags? I did read somewhere that the Sig factory mags are made by Mec-gar? Another pistol in my collection and another to learn about. All info will be appreciated.
NEW QUESTION
Mine is an E2. Suppose to have different ergonomics. What the hell does that mean? What are the difference between it and other new P226's?
Also, whats the best Sig forum to visit?
Congrats on the pistol. For lube use a good gun grease, grease the rails, barrel and barrel lock up spots in the slide, pretty much where the finish is wearing put grease (SIGS LIKE LUBE!). I use Mil-Comm, I get it from Top Gun Supply, they have all the Sig parts you could need and they are fantastic. Mec-gar is one supplier to Sig and they are the best, Top Gun Supply also sells mags. I would stick with the Mec-gar above all others. This is a great Sig forum, there also is one called "Sig forum" (use google) which I frequent as well. Enjoy
Mec -gar mags are good to go. I use them in all of my SIGs. I also run all of my SIGs wet. I would also practice lots of DA tell you get use to it.
Go with Mecgar mags over Sig mags. There are some bad Sig mags being made right now with crappy followers.
Mec-Gar is the best. Learn to feel and use the SRT. Then enjoy arguably the finest .40 ever made.

I'm trying to cure myself of BRD and 1911fever.
For me the 226 fits my hand like it was made for it. Mine runs smooth and is on the money. Nice pistol! Enjoy it.
Mecgar is the OEM for Sig mags. You've just purchased one of the best handguns ever made. The P226 is an awesome design. I'm sure it will handle the .40 exceptionally well. I owned one in 9mm and it was a tack driver.
Go to
Sigforum. It's an excellent community. It's been a while since I've been on there. I used to hang out there a lot when I was shooting Sigs exclusively. Arfcom has become my mainstay as of late, but it's a very good community. Lots of good people and very helpful.
Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the SIG world! MecGars are GTG!
I have a Sig 226 Tac Ops in .40, I love it. It took some getting used to the SRT, as my other pistols are a G23 and FNP-45. It is a good tight fit. Cool thing about the .40 is you can convert it over to .357 Sig w/ just a drop in barrel, and sig also sells .22 conversion kits, so you can run your platform in many different ways.
I will look into the conversion kit. Love the one for my AR.
I really enjoy my Sig .22 conversion kit on my P-226.

I've fired a 226 as a range rental but it did not have the SRT. In what way(s) does it differ. I also understand there is a short trigger, which shortens the finger reach to the trigger. Don't believe my trigger is the short trigger. Should have it this week.

Cant quite explain it. I am used to the glock reset, on it, i found myself not letting the trigger reset and having to let off, where on my g23, i knew where I was on the cusp on just riding it round after round...again hard to say.

My understanding is all of the new Sigs are the E2. Older ones have different "grips". But I'm not 100% sure. I'm new to Sigs myself.
Just put the E2 grips on my P228. I like the feel, great grip and ergonomics but for me too small. I have big hands , so I just ordered some g10s from hogue. They are supposed to be the same grip that comes on the scorpions - which feel awesome.
As a side note I emailed hogue with a few questions at 7:30 pm last nite and they responded within 15 minutes. Very surprising, but great comms. and service.

Very short reset. Fire and keep trigger held back, the slowly let forward a very short distance and you will feel the sear/trigger bar engage and ready for the next shot.
226
226 with e2 grips
the e2 has grps which allow people with short fingers have a better reach on them. i think the grips are cool and they feel alright but hey remind me of my paintball days when i had a dye ultralight frame on all of my markers
picture of said frame for reference. the ergonomics feel very similar

E2 was a special gun in the 2010 Sig line. It became the standard in 2011.
see page 4 of the 2011 .pdf catalog (38MB download)
http://www.sigsauer.com/upFiles/CmsContent/documents/SIG%202011%20webpdf.pdf
Changes are
1. Grip
2. Extractor
3. SRT
4. Mags
5. Slide profile
I have an E2 229 and I like it but since the slide has been redesigned finding a molded holster is tough.
here is a pic of my E2 and a red gun copy of an older 229, 226 will have the same profile just a little longer barrel
Look at the rear serrations to see how the slide is different.
So the frame size is the same, just different grips and other mentioned items. Thanks. Is remanufactured ammo gtg?
yes, as mentioned earlier many people put the E2 style grips on older sigs. The frame is the same. The thinner E2 grips are the only ergonomic differences when compared to an older gun. If you don't like the grips it's easy to remove them and should be easy to find someone who'll trade you a regular set of grips for them.
Can't answer your question about ammo. What makes you think it wouldn't be?
Remanufactured ammo can be fine, depends on who is remanufacturing it. A reputable company like Black Hills - sure, some unknown reloader calling his product "remanufactured" - maybe not.
E2 grips fit the same frame as the standard grips, you can put E2 grips on a standard gun. The E2 grip kit comes with a one piece E2 grip, a hammer strut and mainspring retainer. The DAK takes a different hammer strut and maybe a different mainspring retainer.
