SIG 232 vs 238...
Anyone have both of these? how do they compare as far as handling and accuracy?
The P232 is a slimmer more sexy pistol. The 238 is more concealable. They are two different guns and both are very high quality!!!
The 232 is a touch bigger than the 238 and will be more accurate. The 232 has a fixed barrel and is essentially a PPk copy. The 238 is a scaled down 1911 (or copy of the Mustang depending on how you look at it). If you are not looking for pocket carry I would go with the 232, as it has a longer barrel so your velocities will be a bit higher so as to get more reliable expansion. Also something to consider is the 232 is a simple decock style pistol, no thumb safety like the 238. So if youre like me and like to keep basic operation principles the same across all your pistols that is something to think about too. And finally if country of manufacture matters, the 238 is US made, whilst the 232 (frame at least) is made in Germany. Also I think the 232 is a touch cheaper.
One other thing to consider is how big are your hands? I like the 232 but my hands are on the large side and if I don't make sure of my grip the slide will bite me. I gave my 232 to my son, his hands are smaller and has no problem with slide bite. I replaced my 232 with a Kahr CW9, same size package but with 9mm power.
I own a 232.
The only thing I don't like is the European style mag release. On the butt of the grip.
