PX4 Storm SD?
Just would like some info Im deciding between this or the FNP-45. Would like to hear pros and cons of every detail. Thanks
Something specific you want to know? PX4s are good guns.
Havent got to hold one so would love to everything from trigger pull grip cost of mags everything and a bag of chips. but most importantly i would want to hear any cons you have with it and only with the PX4 storm special duty version
There are a handful of reviews on BerettaForum... which I would definitely suggest.
I have the standard .45 PX4, which except for the coloring, markings, recoil assembly, internal coating, and barrel, it is pretty close. Trigger should be identical, which is similar to any other Beretta DA/SA pistol (if you like it, you like it; if you don't, you don't).If you don’t like the safety, you can easily convert it to a G model (decock only). Recoil is fine (I was surprised the first time that it was a .45, since it was less than my 92 Brigadier), even though I have not shot mine with the SD recoil assembly I bought (the SD version is $55 from Brownells, the standard is $16; unless you are shooting some heavy loads, I'd suggest to get a handful of the stock ones, and swap in the SD version when you change ammo).
Biggest difference between it and other polymer .45s (the FNP-45 included) is the grip. The stock magazine holds 9 rounds, with the extended 10 rounder just sticking further out of the magazine well. Most other .45s are holding upwards of 13 rounds... and that translates to a thicker grip. You hold a FNP-45, then a .45 PX4, you'll definitely notice. No need to shorten the casing, as well as neuter the magazine (.45 GAP). I got rid of the 10 rounder that came with my gun, going completely with 9 rounders. I will say that if you decide to do any type of competition with it, you want a few 10 rounders (I did a fun shoot when I got the gun back from CCR, and it was a pain to deal with loading a round in the chamber). In regards to magazine costs, they are a little higher. I see 10 rounders for $30 on CDNN, but the SD ones were originally coated. Unsure if they still are, but if that is a concern, sending them to CCR for cera-plate will do justice. They aren't as available as other caliber PX4 magazines, or even the Cougar .45 magazines, because Beretta never adapted the CX4 to accept those magazines.
Here are a few pictures of my .45... just realize I had a Bedair guide rod in it at this time. Completely for looks, which I sold it to go with the OEM assemblies. There are Stealth controls on it, as well. Replaces the decockers and slide release... but automatically converts it to G.

Thanks for the info. In the lines of accesories how easy vs price are we looking at?

Holsters? Most 9mm/.40 PX4 holsters will fit the .45 (obviously, the SD will not fit in holsters that don't allow the extra barrel length). Everything else is similar to the other PX4s (sights, different size backstraps/magazine buttons, which the latter are all included with the SD).
I'll be the first to say that the PX4 is no Glock in regards to accessories. Did not bother me, since my main modification is night sights, which were available from early on. Has a rail, so you can mount lights if you want. Shy of that, I really don’t see anything else needed for it. If it is an option, look on BerettaForum about threading the barrel for a suppressor.
Anything specific you are looking for, I can try to help you out... just is a little hard to cover all the aftermarket for any specific gun (even one with as little as this line, since new products are constantly coming out).

Im looking for battle .45 besides a 1911 due to having one. I wanted one with a threaded barrel. I just saw the PX4 SD the other day. Will not lie but just slightly hesitate because of holding the other PX4's and always seemed a lil top heavy for me. IN the lines of the grip always seemed small thats why the FNP-45 was a good option. Thats why im curious because the PX4 SD i know was in the SOCOM trials and had passed every test.
The reason why the .45 is so thin on the PX4 is because it was developed for socom. They require access to all controls of the gun(mag release, slide release, safety) without having to adjust your grip at all. They are good guns, i have the 9mm PX4, one big draw to them is they have this big bulky recoil buffer inside them that absorbs most all the recoil, its honestly the softest shooting handgun ive ever used in any caliber.
And like you said it passed every SOCOM trial(the .45 PX4 SD, which they sale) so its def a battle ready gun
Also while it seems top heavy its really not loaded, that also helps with recoil too
Not exactly the same, but I have a Beretta Cougar in 45ACP, I also have a PX4 in 40cal, and I had an FNX in 40cal. I traded the FNX off for and AR, and kept the PX4, both are great guns, the FN was nice because you could carry it in single action or double action. I sold the FN for two reasons one holsters for the FNX are hard to find, and second, I didn't like the mag catch. The recoil is also different, not necessarily bad but different. The PX4 is more back and in line same goes for the cougar, while the FNX is more like a Glock, the sights on the FN were definitely better though, bigger.
Guess im gonna have to take a look at these guns side by side to bad theres not enough gun ranges that do a test gun
I have the PX4 in 40 and I think it is a great gun. Shoots accurately and has a great finish. The rotating barrel is also an interesting feature in that it is supposed to help reduce recoil in addition to giving the gun "added" barrel link.
heres some photos for you
barrel locked
barrel unlocked
disassembled(super easy, takes about 5 seconds)
recoil buffer(barrel also rotates along it)
buffer sits in this slot
heavy buffer in lower frame
hopefully the pics help demonstrate what makes this gun work
Interesting when i was selling them i didnt have a chance to break them down
I have a PX4 SD. I converted mine to a G and like it that way. It's very accurate at short ranges (say 15 yards) but at longer distances it is inaccurate compared to my beretta 92. It could be the caliber difference causing the difference in accuracy; I don't know. I use grease on the rails, barrel, the the "cam pin" (the block that locks into the frame and comes out with the slide when you strip it), and oil on everything else. My likes to be well-lubricated. Very low recoil, very fast, very sexy. the extended 10-round magazine feels funny in my hand, but your results may be different.
