Beretta 92FS not firing double action
So a friend of mine bought a used 92FS a couple years ago and has only fired it a few times. First couple times firing it he had no problems. Then one of the last times he brought it on a range trip he noticed the double action was not working. I went over to his house today and decided to take it upon myself to help him fix it so it doesn't sit for longer being broken. Please excuse my lack of knowledge on the 92FS system, I'm a Glock guy.
The issue is the gun will not fire double action with the slide ON. Take the slide OFF and it fires both double action and single action (it does fire single action with the slide on as well). I can't see any parts that appear broken or damaged with the pistol field stripped. I didn't have any tools, the time, or knowledge to do a full detail strip and check for broken parts unseen when simply field stripped. I attempted to search for a solution but to no avail. Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem here? If it wouldn't fire double action regardless of the slide being on or off I would just assume it to be a broken part, but it firing double action with the slide off has me perplexed.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

ETA: Check page 38
Step 2 seems like a likely candidate, the only problem I see with that is the fact that the pistol fires DA without the slide on. If the trigger bar spring were missing or defective would the slide being on or off make a difference? Thanks for the help either way.
ETA: Same question for page 38
Yes it would. I was recently doing the annual inspection of weapons for my brigade and came up on a m9 with the same problem. Trigger bar spring missing so it would work single action but not double. took the slide off and it worked double action. Its a very simple fix. Order this part.

Once you get it just remove the right grip panel and you'll see that theres a hole for the bottom part of the spring to slide into and a reces in the triger bar for the spring to push up again. Have heard of people using paper clips for a quick fix. I always just bring a few with me when we have ranges in case we run into that problem at the range.
Cool, thanks a lot guys. I just sent my buddy an email and the link to Brownell's. I appreciate the help.
Wolff Gun Springs may also have the part if Brownells doesn't.
Not trying to revive my old thread, but I just wanted to give an update. Went over to my buddy's house yesterday and asked to see his Beretta again. Took the grips off this time and could see that the trigger bar spring was there, functioning properly and yet the trigger bar was still being pushed down and out of the way and not engaging the hammer. The whole time I'd been messing with it (both times) I noticed there was a small pin protruding from the slide pushing the pin down, but because of my lack of knowledge I didn't want to play with it too much. Asked my buddy if he would mind if I took it home with me so I could try to figure it out.
Well to make a long story shorter, it turns out that the pin that comes out to push the trigger bar down when you put the safety on was stuck out (slight rust from not being oiled enough) and was not returning like it should when the safety was disengaged. CLP'd it and used a punch to get it free and moved it around a few times and now its working just fine. Thanks again for the help with trying to diagnose the issue!
