Rear sight loose in dovetail (warren rear)

Out of three M&P's, two are wearing warren's, and another was wearing a 10-8 rear with a standard front. I decided to standardize to all warrens, and the latest set that I bought has a rear that is completely free in the dovetail. No pressure at all, in either side with ease. My other two required fitting.

To satisfy my curiosity, I pulled one of my other warren rears and tried the newest one in another M&P with the same result. So, the sight is DEFINITELY undersized.

Question is, if I degrease the slide and apply some red loctite, is that and the set screw enough to keep the rear sight in place? Its a CCW firearm, so I do rely on it...or should I send the rear back to be replaced?

Thanks.

S&W changed the dovetail sizes on the new M&Ps. 10-8 was proactive and started making new sights for the new dovetail size. I wouldn't rely on the red Loctite. I would wait for Warren to do the same as 10-8.

Sounds good, but its an older M&P that had and older set of warrens.

Long story short, I have two fullsizes and a compact.

2 fullsizes have warrens

1 compact has 10-8 rear with factory front.

I decided to try the 10-8 and a pro-glo ameriglo front on a fullsize, so pull the 10-8 and factory front off the compact, and put it on a fullsize with the pro-glo front....warrens go on compact.

I tried them, decided to standardize warrens, and used a third set of warrens that I bought a while back when SKD did their sale.

All three of my M&P's have had warrens on them successfully at some point, but the new set that I tried on two slides happens to be undersized. They're also about a year old, so they shouldn't have any problems with the older S&W slides.

Confused yet????

I sent warren an e-mail asking them to replace it ASAP. I don't like the idea of securing it with loctite or a set-screw especially when my other warrens has to be pressed in with my sight pusher.

I think I am tracking you now. Hey what did you do with your old 10-8 rear sight?

Still sittin here! Thinking about trying the compact with the 10-8/pro glo front since my warrens are out of commission for a while.

Well if you decide you are done with it later down the road I can give it a good home.
