Base pin will not push transfer bar back
EDIT: Okay, I've realized the base pin in the cylinder is not pushing back far enough to push back on the transfer bar. Now the question is, how in the world do you adjust the base pin on a Taurus M85? I can't find an answer anywhere out there!!!!
So I never really noticed exactly what was going on with my Taurus M85 until today. The gun WILL NOT fire when aimed downward. I can *CLICK CLICK CLICK* all I want aimed up, but as soon as the barrel is slightly pointed down the trigger stops half way. Now curious, I took it apart and noticed it was the transfer bar hitting the firing pin. I figured maybe a spring was suppose to push the transfer bar back, but nope. Nothing broken, no springs floating around, everything was where it should be.
So this is what is going on when the gun is just chillin.
When shooting upward, everything works fine, the transfer bar is not hitting the firing pin.

]Now fml, when aimed downward, the transfer bar leans forward with gravity and when I pull the trigger I am stuck halfway because the bar is pushing into the bottom of the firing pin.
Thanks for your help! I'm kind of new to the forums, if you feel that this topic should be somewhere else let me know!
It's been a very long time since I was inside a Taurus, but there IS NO spring as such for the transfer bar.
I'm not sure what's going on here, because I can't remember what moves the bar rearward during firing.
I "Seem" to remember it was a lug or pin on the cylinder bolt. That's what Taurus calls the cylinder release, part number 20.
Here's Gun Parts exploded view of the Model 85:

As I said, I just can't remember, but I think I remember a lug or pin on the cylinder bolt/release that pulled the transfer bar to the rear when the cylinder was closed. When the cylinder closes, the bolt/release snaps to the rear like a S&W and that pulls the transfer bar to the rear.
DO NOT go on this, because I'm NOT sure.
Check the bolt/release for a worn or broken lug or pin. With the action open as in the pictures, pull the cylinder bolt to the rear and see it the transfer bar is pulled with it.
What pushes the cylinder bolt/release to the rear is the center pin in the ejector assembly, part 4.
Check that for spring pressure by pushing the center pin in. It should have good spring tension pushing it to the rear, and it should push the cylinder release to the rear.

Two probably fixes:
1-The ejector rod (#7) has become unscrewed and allowed the center pin (#4) base pin to not push in as far as it should. (On some revolvers the ejector rod has a left hand thread, so turn it in both directions too see if it is loose)
2-The various parts of the assembly are gummed up, stuck, etc, the end result still being that the center pin is bot protruding as far as it should.
Does this occur with the cylinder installed also, or only with it out. Just for the hell of it, reinstall the cylinder, leaving the side plate still off, and try it again. In your last pic where the transfer bar is hitting under the firing pin, the cylinder base pin is not pressed into it's normal position because the cylinder center pin is not there to push it into place. If you install the cylinder and close it, the center pin in the cylinder will push the base pin back. with the side plate off, you can and will see this occur as you open and close the cylinder. If it still binds up with the cylinder closed, you should be able to see how much movement there is, or lack thereof, in the base pin and transfer bar. You may have a worn cylinder base pin nose.
