Grip Safety No Longer Works. Kimber Compact Carry

So we replaced the Main Spring Housing on my Kimber Compact Carry (Officer's Grip, 4in Barrel) over the weekend and ever since then we have not been able to get all of the pieces back together and have the Grip Safety work. The thumb safety works fine but holding the slide with the hammer down and using one finger to pull the trigger it will still go off.

To the best of my and my smith's knowledge (after examining the weapon) the weapon is factory, no modifications to the Grip Safety, Main Spring or any portion covered under. We have also attempted to use a different grip safety and main spring with the same result, we are all baffled and I have had 4 different people look at it to know avail.

Any Suggestions??

Thanks in advance,
Foley

The spring for the grip safety is out of place. That is the flat spring ( 3 or 4 finger ) that the mainspring housing holds in place.

I would bet the leaf spring was unintentianally bent when your Kimber was disassembled; an small bit of bend the wrong way will affect the grip safety fit.
If possible, borrow another Kimber with an officer's frame and use its leaf spring as a reference for tuning it. This is tricky work, and takes a hand that has done it before sucessfully.
Kimber could be really nice and sell you a replacement spring that is factory set to proper spec, but they won't. They will have you send it in for them to do the work. Firearm company lawyers make life difficult sometimes.

it's not that hard for the grip safety. the sear leaf is another story. just look over the geometry of the spring and it will be obvious.

Is the grip safety disengaging all the way? Replaced a mainspring housing on one of my 1911s and the hammer would drop without the grip safety engaged at all. Found out the new MSH was too thick where the grip safety lower tangs met up with the mainspring housing and was acting like an unintentional "pinning" of the grip safety. Grip safety moved but not back enough to block the trigger. Filed some material off the MSH where it came in contact and worked perfectly.

the part in red doesn't make any sense. if the hammer is down, how is it still "going off"

Ok, but did you check the area I'm talking about? If so then take the other advice above by other posters on here.
