Hello Fellas, has anyone done a conversion/modification from a standard 1911 GM frame to a ramped barrel 1911 GM frame (Nowlin/Wilson cut). Need some video Instruction/help just to make sure...any
good 1911 smiths out there with some suggestions?

Thanks.

If I remember correctly, I think Brownells has the necessary milling bit for the job. I would presume instructions would be included. I know it's a doable thing because we used to do it in the gunsmithy/shop where I worked back in the eighties. Might look up Chuck's Gun Shop in Waldo Florida, see if he's still kicking. If so, he'll know where/how to do/get it done. Oil.

It comes with almost no Instructions...go figure Guess I'll call Brownells and/or Nowlin to see if there are any further details.
Pretty frustrating that a $100 part comes with nearly zero Instructions

The Nowlin ramped barrels I use come with a drawing for the cuts.

I have not done one in 3-4 years though, so they may not any longer.

You do have to know how to set up and use a milling machine, though none of the cuts is particularly difficult with the correct tooling.

Hello, yes I have access to a milling machine and I have access to a 1911 frame holding fixture for the machine vise, the brand new Nowlin frame bridge cutter that was purchased
came with about zero Instructions not even a dimentional drawing.

If you ever come across it please email it to me...

Thanks for your help.

The cuts are not that critical.

OK Fellas, I finally got a set of drawings/Instructions from Clark...Thanks for your help.

I will post or email it for those who request it. Just email me, and I will sent it out to ya.

BTW, I was correct, the Clark/Para cut is stronger than the Nowlin/Wilson cut and the C/P cut is easier to make.

I also checked the Schuemann site (a lot of good Info.) today and it was down (server problems) has anyone used
there Barrels? They seem to be very good quality.

This is not an easy task and a dremel is not the right tool for the job.
The cuts to install a ramped barrel in a 1911 are indeed critical and need to be done with a rigid, properly trammed milling machine.
A certain amount of machining skill and experience is required to obtain satisfactory results.
Drawings are a good start, but there is considerable variance between various frames, slides and barrels.
The ability measure the slide, frame and barrel are required to accomplish this, if you can't do that get some help or you will ruin your frame and end up with an unreliable pistol.

PS a ramped barrel is NOT the ideal set up for a single stack 45 caliber 1911.
Schuemann barrels are excellent quality.
