are golden sabres still better than Remington ult, home defense

It seem like remington took the jacket and mixed it with a federal hydra shok core.. is the golden sabre still a better all around SD round
also after reading reviews i feel like my gold dots might be the best of what i currently have.

115 corbon powerball
124+p Golden sabre
124+p Gold Dots
115 Federal Hydashock
147 Winchester Black Talon

it seem from the reading that the Federal bonded HST LE could be the best... does Hornady offer anything i should consider.

I think once you get into the premium lines of SD ammo made by Remington, Winchester, Federal, and Speer it really becomes
6 of one, half a dozen of another" type of situation.

I'm partial to Golden Sabers for my Glock 26, and Winchester Ranger 147 bonded for my Glock 19.

I would try other rounds, but I just don't feel the need to dump more money on the next up and coming rounds or flavor of the week. I try to offset any perceived shortcomings my rounds may have by practice.

Get decent hollow points at least, make sure they run, than buy 1K of your caliber of choice and practice, practice, practice. Practice drawing, practice dry firing, practice double taps, failure drills, reloads, do it all till its boring! When its boring, have your friend load snap caps randomly in a live magazine, (fired brass works too) and practice your immediate actions.

The number of people at a public range that will literally stare at their gun when it goes click is astounding. Don't be that guy.

Hornady ammo isn't too well loved here due to its generally limited expansion and its tendency to not expand at all. It seems hit or miss in my studying of it. I like the XTP line of bullets for hunting oddly enough. I keep XTP's in .357 and .44 for the woods.

Out of those I would use the +P 124gr Gold Dots. 147gr HST is a great load (but it isn't bonded).

Yeah I really like the Remington Golden Sabers since they have a more rounded nose compared to other hollow points making them a little more reliable in certain guns like my 1911's and pocket pistols.

There is no post. What you are seeing is just the bottom of the HP cavity. Their HD ammo is just standard Golden Saber ammo repackaged.

When I looked at them both at Gander Mountains they looked exactly the same. Same specs on the boxes, exact same looking bullet and case as well. I would skip the UHD and go with Golden Sabres if your decision is out of only those two rounds. At least the GS is on the list. Otherwise I run Ranger-T in my Glocks and have some HST as well.

That's because they are the same :)

I always thought the same, and had in fact decided to just use Gold Dot for everything. Was really surprised when I looked at all the data at the huge variations:
Ammo comparison

124+P gold Dot does not meet the 12" min penetration standard set by the FBI (see link above)

ETA: of ALL the 9mm Gold Dots, ONLY the 147 meets the 12" criteria.......

11.78" = close enough. I note that the HSTs didn't make 12" either for bare gelatin, but they're still considered to be at the top of the stack for SD ammo. The 124 grain +P Gold Dot has a long and well deserved pedigree in stopping bad guys, and makes an excellent SD load.

I still think the same.... Speer gold dots, federal hst, Winchester ranger, and Remington golden sabers are all top performers. I've read the ammo stickies many times. My conclusion is all of the ones I lister provide very similiar results. The major difference I see is how it's packaged and the cost!

I prefer 147's for 9mm and 230's for .45acp though.
