 5.11 Thumb drive

I've searched the archives and only found 1 post which wasn't very informative.

Does anyone have any experience with these? If not, what options would you suggest for the criteria below?

Holster

Offset mount

Thigh rig

This will be primarily for class and private range time - the classes are defensive/tactical in nature and there has been some rolling on the ground, etc. In the past I've used a SERPA.

Things I don't like about the SERPA now that I've used it:
- Index finger release.
- Rides high on me.

What I want in a holster:
- Options - the ability to move from hip to thigh if wanted. Some of the classes use primary/secondary and it would be nice to have the secondary out of the way.
- Lower ride (like what the addition of the offset will give).
- Better option for release
- Durability

ETA: This is for a G23/19

I like the 5.11 setup but would like to hear some feedback from users. What are some other alternatives for a modular design? Should I give up on the modular and just go with two separate outfits? Am I missing any other important issues?

Any feedback/help would be appreciated.

Hmmm... Don't swap back and forth between a serpa and a thumbdrive. You might get a nickname of "Tex" and develop a limp.

All i got.

Lol! I think I may have seen that video while digging for information.

I agree, I plan to get rid of the serpa and use just one system.

I have the holster and the offset mount. I used the holster when I carried a g19 at work. I really like it. Much better than the Serpa(which I also have). I'm planning on getting one for my Sig to use when I go to Court.

Also, email inbound.

you cant go wrong with safariland. and though i like 5.11 stuff, i tend to think that safariland will be a better choice. their 6377/6378 ALS holster will suit your needs perfectly.

I agree, I run a 6377 with an ALS Guard which gives me a very quick yet secure threat level II rig.

Lol! Yep, that's the one I saw.

I ordered the 6377 this morning from holsterops.com. Forgot about the ALS Guard, might could add to the order since they expect it to be several weeks.

Thanks for the input, I think the Safariland is a better option.

The thumb drive is good once you get use to it. Need to have a good/tight belt for best results.
