I have a PT92AF (pre decocker) a PT1911 and a 44mag based off the old smiths... All are perfect and have functioned flawlessly for tens of thousands of rounds.

When Taurus buys other peoples tooling, the pistols are great... not so much with their own crap. I had a 24/7 and a Slim crack in my hands over the past couple years... thankfully both werent my own.

Seems like the metal guns are pretty much good to go but the plastic ones have been problematic.

So far (Knock on wood) my Taurus 24/7 .45 acp is running fine. I have only about 500 or so rounds through it. Hopefully it holds up because I really do enjoy shooting it. I do have a PT-92 (made in 1991 with 15,000+ through it) that has gone back to the factory once with a broken extractor pin. Also used to own a PT-1911 but sold it to fund buying a Glock 22.

But that is something I value in a company...

When Springfield Armory brought out the XD, I actually was disappointed. Springfield can make some quality stuff, yet their new polymer flagship is a Croatian pistol.

That pretty much sums up my experience with Taurus products. I still own an old stainless model 66, a 1911 and a 990 series Tracker.
Have had three of their plastic frames (two Millenniums) and one Pro series that just loved to make lots of shavings, cracked a frame, broke an extractor and ran poorly and basically were not to be trusted IMHO.
Love the ones I kept, very well made and dependable.

Last night I engaged a skunk that has been terrorizing my hill with a 740 Slim I recently picked up. Put two rounds down range at the skunk and on the third trigger pull heard a "click." Racked it and continued to engage the skunk, but that one click was enough to get rid of it. Have other steel framed Taurus', but I'm going to stay away from the plastic stuff.

I wish I had done more research when I bought my PT111 it was used but it was my first pistol I over payed for it and now there are sometimes where I pull the trigger it goes click but nothing fires.
