Never dry fire that thing. Never use the safety to de-cock it. Don't ask why, just believe me.

With a name like PPKNut I feel inclined to believe you know what you are talking about. I would really like it you elaborated on this a little more.

Too much stress on the saftey/firing pin block. I've snapped two of those in the last 30 years.

Damn piece of metal about 1/2 inch long........costs like $100 to replace, and you will have a hard time finding vintage ones easily (BTW there are at least two different designs on the safety).

JMO. YMMV.

Personally, I'll never dry fire or decock mine with the safety ever again.

Thanks everybody and rest assured, my paws rarely touch this and its home is inside of its box in a drawer. Shot maybe 10 rounds through it the past 40 years and probably less than 100 total in her lifetime.

Your PPK was actually made by Manurhin in France dissembled and shipped to Walther right up the road in Ulm-Do where it was reassembled and test targeted.
This arrangement was agrred upon for countries that insisted on the Genuine Walther markings, they didn't want "French" made guns.
Walther didn't actually regain full production rights until 1986.
For forty years, 1946-1986 Manurhin made all their small "Commercial venture" pistols.
Walther was allowed to produce military caliber firearms and small bore rifles at the Ulm Do plant during this time.

The Manurhin made guns are in every way the equal to German made pistols and in many ways, they are much better, all Manurhin made pistols are superior to most of the Walther Military production wartime pistols, some presentation pistols being the exception..
